We're getting Delux AP's because we plan on visiting the park twice within a year and it will save us quite a bit. We will be visiting in Nov. of this year and Oct. of next if I can iron out the details..
So I have some questions for all you experts!

If visiting during a week in October, I would like to avoid the days when they have evening Halloween parties. Are these just during the week leading up to Halloween or do they go on all month on certain days?

Also, what mid week (M~F or Sun~Thurs) is normally the slowest during Oct?

And finally, historically, when does the HM reopen after receiving its overlay?

Thanks in advance,
Scott

The Halloween parties begin the end of September and go through Halloween night. You can look at the Halloween super thread for more info on specifics.

I like Sunday through Thursday as my first choice. As far as slowest...... Check out the thread figment_jii maintains. It will give you an idea of activites in and around DLR plus various school info.

Not sure about the HM. I'm sure you can find out about it in the super thread.

Congratulations on the AP's. Enjoy!

Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain should reopen at the start of halloween season, which this year is sept 11, next year will probably be about the same time, or sept 9, which is the first friday after labor day. As you can see, the halloween parties span almost every other day starting in late sept. So if your main concern is lighter crowds and avoiding any parties on your days but still enjoy the decorations and overlay rides, I would say you should adjust your dates to anytime during the 2-3 weeks after labor day leading up to the 23rd of next year. Keep in mind Dapper Day may occur on one day during that time, and may bring higher crowds but also cheap onsite hotel options for you.

Thanks so much folks. My family really appreciates it.
It sounds like we would be pretty safe avoiding parties and crowds during the third week of Sept?
Our plan is to get Deluxe AP's, make our yearly trip the first week of Nov/2015 and then maybe the third week of Sept/2016.
We used to go the week after Labor day but now we're trying to avoid that time because HM is down.

Thx!

Awesome! You picked a great time of year. We went for five days last year (bought our Premium APs the first day) and have really made the most of it. We swear by that time of year to visit. The crowds were about a 3/10. The weather was awesome. Last year, we went the last week of Oct. and attending the MHP. This year, we're going a bit earlier and also attending a party - though I will say that I'm slightly annoyed at the number of parties since it means we can't visit the Magic Kingdom on those nights. It really cuts our time there, but oh well! Next year, I think we'll try for late September.

We went Mon - Fri, but I think the advice on Sun - Thurs is also great.

Thanks for your insight Missy!
We're doing things a bit differently this year and after tons of research regarding plane fairs and hotel costs, we found the best thing to do is arrive in the resort area later Sat night and then fly out the next Sat. So we'll have 6 days in the park.
Doing it this way and getting AP's means our next trip in 2016 will only cost us $450 instead of the usual $900 for tickets.
And it ensures we will go back next year ;)
