AFAIK, Cheryl Tiegs is an ex-supermodel. I think she's probably just ticked that they are showing another body shape and size beyond super model "perfect".
Most would get medical advice from a licensed, qualified medical provider. Unless I missed something, she's not a physician, PA or nurse practitioner.

Hey! She cited Dr. Oz! You know he used to be on Oprah and now has HIS OWN SHOW! ;-)
The facts are that being overweight is unhealthy. Many people think the model is overweight, many people do not think she's overweight.
I think Tiegs' concern might stem from the fact that the magazine is putting a beautiful person on their cover, who happens to be overweight, might send a signal to people that being overweight is okay.
It kind of goes along the lines of advertisements for cigarettes. Studies found that glamorizing an unhealthy behavior (smoking) with slick ads changed people's opinion about an unhealthy behavior.
As much as you give people the facts, what you put in their face everyday on ads, TV, etc, makes an impression.
I personally don't know if I care or not if we are making fat "acceptable." I also don't agree that it's healthy to post stick figure women as the healthy example either.
2/3's of US citizens are overweight
1/3 are obese
A person's waistline should be no more than half their height. A 60" person's waist should not be larger than 30". Why doesn't SI have normal sized women on their cover? The women have been very thin, except for large breasts, or overweight like Ashley. They're all beautiful but not typical.
As for Cheryl Tiegs, she is 68 years old and I think she looks good.
You just told us that Ashley is normal, because overweight is normal
Right, I didn't say it was. We don't know that she's not healthy, though.Just because it's average or above average being overweight is not healthy.

You said the models should be like "normal sized" women, not that they should be healthy.
There are so many factors that go into whether a person is "healthy". Simply being overweight does not mean that you are not healthy. A person can be overweight and still be healthy. A person can be a normal weight and be unhealthy.Just because it's average or above average being overweight is not healthy.
Coulda, woulda, shoulda.2/3's of US citizens are overweight
