I'm trying to find a good pair of lightweight/water resistant shorts for Disney.

I'm really trying to prevent chafing. I already have products like Bodyglide and powder etc...to try and prevent it but I also think I'm wearing the wrong shorts. I need a better material that moves with me and doesn't bunch up and dries quickly.

I'm having a really hard time finding good lightweight shorts in plus sizes.

The Columbia website says their stuff can come in size up to 4X but I can't find any website or store that sells plus sizes.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I second Junonia. I have bought many things over the years and they are very high quality. Cost a little more but you will find just what you are looking for. They have many styles for active ladies.

Did you try Landsend? I know I got a catalog and almost purchased their shorts for the water.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone. I have looked at Junonia already and I did buy the biker short underwear...I figured I could wear them under shorts and dresses...but I couldn't bring myself to pay $80 for shorts!

I also checked Landsend and couldn't find any lightweight short in plus size.

I also just check Lane Bryant Catalog website and just bought a water resistant pair of shorts. We'll see how they are.

Thanks again!

If you just want sports style shorts both Nike and Reebok do large size shorts either in thin cotton ( that dry pretty quick) or I have a number of "airtex" style shorts (no pockets though) that have two layers of a nylon type material with small holes in both layers of fabric ( off set to preserve your modesty  ) . These dry almost immediately so are ideal for days where you think you'll be doing a lot of "wet rides" like at BG, SW or IOA, the two layers help the material to move without rubbing your skin.

They have these in both the mens and women's sections.

Those shorts look great but I'm a bit concerned about whether they might be too short? I tried on a pair of water resistant shorts at Kohl's the other day and they fit me but the lower part of my inner thighs were rubbing together as the shorts were too short to cover that.

Did your legs rub together at all or were these shorts long enough?

Thanks for sharing!

I didn't have a problem with them rubbing together or riding up...it's just when you are in the water the pockets fill up with water and don't drain! lol I thought they would be to short too as I like my shorts to my knee and I can't find too many of those around. These come to just above my knee but I can pull them down and make them hang lower...they have a pull string and elastic.

The thing with Eddie is that if you don't like them you can always just take them back to one of their stores to get a credit instantly.

Oh, do you have an Avenues near you? I'd never heard of them but my friend said she found some board shorts/swim shorts there and they have larger womens sizes there. I'll have to ask her how she likes hers.

holycow, thank you so much!

I think I may try a pair!

I just got the Junonia biker underwear in black today in the mail. I just put them on under my regular shorts and they are GREAT. They fit perfectly and they don't ride up and they are really good quality. I have white on B/O with them. I hope they come before my trips.

Included was a catalog and they have a lot more in the catalog than I could find online! They had water shorts and more underwear etc...

I've already told my DH what I want for my birthday/xmas as their clothes are VERY expensive but at least I know they are good quality.

That is great you like the Junonia ...there is nothing more disappointing than waiting for clothes to come in the mail only to not have them fit! (been there more than I would like to say!) So their catalog is better than the web site?
I may have to take a look!

Yes, I am very impressed with the catalog and I'm very happy the biker underwear fit! I was worried since they were $25! But they are very nice.

I circled a bunch of stuff and left it where my DH could find it!!
;)

I'm determined to not have chafing between my legs anymore and no more blisters on my feet at WDW.

Depending on the style, what about a mens size?

for example Columbia Mens Whidbey vs Columbia Womens Whidbey:

Womens

I think the only difference would be the color choices, regardless of brand. No one (but you) would no the wiser if you bought a mens pair in black or blue, etc.

great shorts, now I am going to shop. Thats my #1 complaint is when I get wet, the shorts don't dry quickly, so I will be getting a few pair for our next trip!! Thanks for the links!!

Another site that I have ordered from (& you can apply the same principal for the mens vs womens styles) is Campmore.

Thanks for the idea. I have thought of that but I'm afraid I'd get the wrong size. I believe mens run differently; larger than womens??

If I'm a women's 2x what size should I get in mens?? I'd be afraid men's 2x would be huge on me.

If you want to order on line, just check the size charts for men.
