plus dining or dining deluxe

Have not done the dining plan... YET.... we are going in August with our 4 kids plus 1 additional teenager (friend) and are doing the basic free dining and we think this is going to be PLENTY for us. Then DF and I are going back in September just the 2 of us for our honeymoon. Someone suggested upgrading to the deluxe DDP for that one and after we thought about it, it seemed like a great idea! so our plan is to eat at signature restaurants and shows that we most likely wouldn't do with the kids.... it's just the 2 of us and our honeymoon and we'll be there for 7 days with APs... we can take our time... :thumbsup2

Oh, another thing... I love the idea of ordering an appetizer, eating a few bites or so, and the same thing with entree and dessert... i don't plan on eating every bite... but it will be nice to be able to "sample" more...

However, when the girls are older, we cannot foresee wanting to give up so much ride time to sit and eat either, so at that point, the deluxe ddp will be out the window.

Ah, but as they get older, signature dinners are so much more enjoyable, which once again makes the deluxe plan mighty attractive! :rotfl: It really is the most flexible plan Disney is offering at the moment, I think, because there are so many ways it can be used that make sense from a $$ standpoint.

Ok, sold, cause we love to eat :lmao:

For the most part my Hubby and I loved the DxDP. I cannot imagine how the regular plan would have worked for us 2 foodies. The one time we had CS when we were off the dining plan our last few days we were VERY hungry when we had completed our meal.

I booked a lot of 2TS restuarants... This helped use the points... I am still planning on doing a price analysis but that might be some time till I get around to it.

I think whether to do the deluxe plan or not is a very personal choice. For us, dining is a big part of enjoying vacation. Also, we are big eaters who don't love CS for the most part and my son eats three meals per day, so we'd always be paying OOP for at least one meal every day on the regular plan, and we'd be locked into eating a lot of CS.

We also don't find the meals take out all that much from touring, and with a small child, commando touring is basically out anyway. We plan a lot of TS breakfasts before the parks even open, but either in or near parks (for example Tusker House in AK about 45 min. before the park opens places us in the back of the park almost right at opening, giving us a huge jump on most others). We end up going back to the hotel every afternoon for a break anyway, so lunch is a good stopping point for us from touring, and then wind down for a rest, just like at home. If I book a TS breakfast, I don't book one for lunch, and vice-versa though, because that would be a lot of food.

We also love the extra snacks. Snack credits can really make a good breakfast if you want to save credits for the Signature restaurants, and also mean you can always get a drink if you want, or something better like a smoothie or ice-cream! ;-)
