Plumerias?

Hi from Texas...I bought two plumeria plants at Disneyworld Garden Festival about three years ago....can someone help me?

okay...it's still winter here...and they're still sleeping.


They are both very very tall - with two shoots coming out of the trunk. I would like to make cuttings - they have never bloomed yet (flowers) and are about 3 years old. They just look very very clumsy being so tall - and my son-in-law would like a cutting.

Is it okay to do it?

When?

What would I use to cut them?

Now - when I bought them I thought the person at Disneyworld told me to put a foam ball on the end of the cutting to make it main shoot "branch out" is this right?

I goggled Plumerias....and couldn't find (or understand) the answers....also....is it okay to put them in a different pot? (the main plant) I really need to put them in a better pot...they deserve better.

We bought similar Plumarias a few years ago from the Flower and Garden Festival.
We are from Dalllas and my DH is an amazing gardener. We have an extremely lush backyard. DH can get anything to flourish except for.... plumarias'!
We was bought probably 3 or 4 different ones since then and the ones that stay alive, don't bloom.
There might be some trick to it we have not discoveredm but Good Luck!

My mom has a couple of these and I just called her. She's no expert by any means. My friend's father, who is now deceased created his own varieties and went to national shows. (That's how my mother got hers.)

She transplanted hers a couple of times without any problems - they are now just in the ground. She did say that they seemed to do better when they were in pots that seemed too small. They are now flurishing too in the ground.

She had never heard about a styrofoam ball on the ends. She said that when an end breaks off (usually thanks to her grandsons, ), she just sticks it in a pot and the main plant just branches there. She did say though, "it takes forever to grow back out".

We are in south Texas.

I was told that they need to stay in a pot that is too small for them---get root bound-- in order for them to bloom.... in too big a pot get lanky and become more of a tree-----I put mine in too big a pot when I first transplanted them and have very tall leafy things with no flowers!!!! So I'm not getting it a new pot until I see some flowers----dang-nabit!!!!!
