We purchased 3 plumeria cuttings a couple years ago. One didn't make it, but the other 2 have become very nice plants. No blooms yet, but it's really only their 2nd year. We have grown very fond of these!

Here's the problem. I had the plants outside this summer for the sun (which they really loved). Last night, we had a pretty intense wind storm and my larger plumeria did not fare well. The wind ripped both branches completely off.

Is there anything I can do? I'm not a "plant person" and I've never propogated anything before, but I really don't want to lose him.

The branches are probably about 16" or so and have about a dozen leaves on them. They were somewhat clean breaks, but not like they were cut with shears.

I also don't want to lose the original plant. Is there anything I should do to the parts of the plant where the branches used to be to keep it healthy?

What can I do?!? I know my DIS friends will have the answer!

For the ones that had come off, but stick them into the dirt and water them every 2-3 days.

I would treat the broken off branches just like the original ones you bought.

BTW, the last one I purchased at WDW was two years ago, and it has bloomed every summer since. This year it didn't bloom as long though. I don't think I was as religious about giving it plant food this year. I plan to go back to doing that on a regular basis again this year. It is about to lose its leaves again.

I've survived on www.plumeria101.com since I brought my cuttings home from EPCOT last year. I had blooms this summer, but none last more than a few days. I would do the same thing stablaize the branch in a pot of soil like you did with the original cuttings.

I really hate to hijack, but for those of you that have ones that are more than a year old, was there a root ball when you did your first transplat? Mine had little ones, but nothing like the pictures said there should be. I'm so petrified if they don't root right I might lose them. :guilty:
