Hello, american here invading your board to ask an important question. I just finished season 2 with tears down my face about Rose not being on the show anymore. Pls tell me season 3 will be just as good and the new companion is just as good - thanks!

Also, was it Billie Piper's decision to leave?

Also, have you heard anything about Torchwood and the other spinoff coming to the US? I really hope so!

Thanks so much!

Hi there

We are waiting (not all that patiently!) to find out what the new doctor's assistant will be like too. I loved Billie Piper in the role too, so I know the new girl will have to do a lot to impress me!

I believe it was Billie's decision to leave the show. I have also heard this week that David Tennant is leaving as well :sad2:

Can't help with Torchwood, I'm afraid, but I hope you do get it. It's been an interesting series, though very different from Doctor Who.

now you have REALLY broken my heart - why is Tennant leaving? I thought the Dr. Who role was one he wanted his whole life and the reason he became an actor?

Me too :confused3

I don't know why he has decided to leave, hopefully one of the other Who-ies on here will be able to shed some light on that one.

I have heard rumours, that, like any successful series, the stars ask for large amounts of money for their next contract. I'm hoping the rumours are untrue, but if they are true David Tennant has asked for a BIG increase and the BBC are not prepared to meet his demands. (Remember Zoe Wannamaker when she appeared in the first Harry Potter film - she did the same and the film production company responded by writing her out of the future films).

Hello. :)

We haven't a clue about the new assistant, though I hear she was able to fit BP's shoes quickly. Have you seen the Christmas Special Yet? The temporary assistant is worth a couple of laughs in the meantime. :)

I've heard rumors that DT is leaving too, and knowing the nature of the media it's unfortunately going to be true.. DT is an actor so doesn't want to be tied to something for too long. Unless he REALLY likes Doctor Who like Tom Baker did, I don't think he'll be around after series 4. (The whole "3 Season" thing from Doctor Who history keeps coming back).

We will wait and see; afterall nothing is official yet so there is still hope! :) Oh, and don't worry about assistants as Capt. Jack from Series 1 is coming back.. :goodvibes

The good thing about Doctor who is the programme and idea are far stronger than any one actor, remember over 10 actors have played the doctor, I would not count the assistants but thats many more, sure David tennent is the best yet, but I always said Tom Baker was the best! We love Sarah Jane Smith, but she was replaced.

As long as the BBC make sound judgements on the replacements it will work, the new assistant will top Rose I am sure, remember just Chrsitmas last year everyone was saying David Tenant might flop after just one series of Christopher, he didnt!

Only one newspaper has said DT is leaving the BBC say thats incorrect ofr now, but the newspaper the The Sun is often correct on its entertainment stories.

Many actors become famous through Doctor Who it helps carears but they do not get paid a lot by the BBC and do not wish to be typecast, Tom Baker is reported as not getting jobs for a long time, everyone saying well he is Doctor Who maybe he stayed too long.

DT reminds me of the Peter Davision doctor still doing other TV and films at the same time, remember all creatures great and small, he stayed a short time but was very succesfull.

Wow that is quite true actually. ::yes:: DT at the mo is my favorite Doctor, but there is always someone good to replace them (well, except maybe Colin Baker...)

The one newspaper saying that he wanted to leave was something about the next harry potter film? For that to work they'd have to give him a new character which does seem rather pointless when you could just get a nobody to do it anyway..

Just wanted to say thanks for the info. For some reason I thought the UK was ahead of the US in seasons. When does season 3 start for you? I don't know about here.

First Saturday in April, that most likly is Easter Saturday, is the schduled start date on BBC1.

It's so funny you say this b/c I"m just watching Harry Potter IV now and was shocked to see David Tennant playing a bad guy! I kept yelling at the tv screen "no, you're Dr. Who! You're supposed to be good!" which is probably what DT is worried about - but anywho, why would they then give him a different role in the movie, we'd all remember him in IV!
