I thought I was the only one........ I have tried to be good on vacation, well, I really should be honest...NOT EVEN. :rotfl2: Not only is it my vacation from work, it is my do whatever the heck I want to do (within reason) time.

Plus, if you eat right at home and exercise, you actually train your stomach to be satisfied at a particular point. So if you go to Disney and try to pig out too much you will be miserable. My eyes have been too big for my stomach many times. I paid dearly.

But this is just me. OP, you do what is best for you. Congrats on the weight loss. I would not want to mess that up either.

First off, CONGRATULATION!!! :cheer2: That is an amazing accomplishment!! I lost nearly 60 lbs several years ago. It was enough to give me the confidence to get my certification to teach Jazzercise. It is still a struggle everyday and Disney is chalk full of temptation.

I only have a few pieces of advice:

*I am a Weight Watcher and always look at the Menus on allears.net prior to my trip to see what the options at each restaurant where we have ADRs. I then go to WWOnline and find how many points that meal will be so that I can plan accordingly during the day.

*If I am having a meal that would make me go over my alloted points for the day (or if I have already blown through my Flex points) I find a way to work in a quick workout so that I can earn a few extra points. I also count the activity points for all the walking that is done in the parks!! It really adds up.

*Most of all, DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP IF YOU SPLURGE!!!! You are on vacation!!! Have fun!!! If you splurge a little too much one day don't let that ruin your entire vacation or lead you to 'fall off the wagon' for the rest of your trip. Just find ways to get back on track the next day (ie. drink lots of water, use your fruits and veggies to your advantage, and exercise).

Remember it's one day at a time!!! Pre-planning will be your saving grace.

I know everyone has different metabolic rates but in my experience I never gain/lose weight at WDW. All the walking I do cancels out all the food I eat so I maintain my weight. I say eat what you want but without going overboard and you'll be just fine!

I am hoping that your diet plan has included how to eat out (not just pre-packaged meals or only food from home)...

Just continue all the tips you learned whenever you eat out:
1) Exercise
2) Drink water (unless you really want something else, if you really want something else...think about it, don't let the waiter keep refilling that coke...order a glass of wine and not a giant umbrella drink)
3) Eat less...ask for a box, divide the plate in half, order a kids meal, share food with whomever is there, order an appetizer as your meal, skip dessert
4) Include something healthy in every meal...make sure you are eating enough fiber (fruits and veggies)
5) Eat only what you love...don't eat something that is just "okay"
6) Avoid unnecessary carbs-that school bread from Norway you have been craving for years-have it; that bun on the counter service burger-toss it
7) Ask for things not to be fried...ask that they not put butter/margarine on things...get sauces/mayo on the side and put what you want

Excellent advice, but I'm guessing you already know what to do, or you'd not lost all that you have. However, I'm sure the choices are overwhelming and the enormity of the portions at some places is as well. I'm undergoing a weight loss/life style change. I have pre-diabetes, so I watch. You will be walking a lot. Keeping your blood sugar level will help you to not feel ravenous and over eat. Grab some almonds, if you can have nuts, and keep them with you for a snack. Drink lots of water, as mentioned and I always order my burger sans the bun or only use the bottom. Add your own condiments, but don't deprive. Have a bite of this or that. Nobody said you have to eat it all. Sometimes you just want a taste. You'll do great!!

Congrats on the weight loss. Last year I joined Weight Watchers right before my trip (which included a cruise), I still ate what I wanted. We did so much walking that I still lost 5 lbs.

Congrats for your continuing efforts!

I'm at a point where I'm eating somewhat healthier but sabotage myself at times, but I often find myself making equally good and bad choices at Disney. In small ways, I do find that on my trips:

I always substitute a package of apple slices for any counter service meal that includes fries. I believe baby carrots may also be offered as a substitute.

I have taken advantage of the fresh fruit and veggies snack carts in the parks, especially the one at Animal Kingdom, near the Kilimanjaro Safari ride. The pre-packaged options are a great choice.

I've had a plan at buffets where I would walk the perimeter to check out all the offerings before starting. I gave myself the option of filling one plate with small portions of food that isn't that healthy, but also the option of filling up on fruits and salad (with light dressing if they have it) if I still felt hungry.

And I allowed myself to indulge in desserts. I didn't have them with every meal, but I did not deprive myself. I wore a pedometer and knew that I was walking enough to allow it.

2 things that help me on EVERY trip:

1. Cut up a large Honeycrisp apple into 8 pieces, put it in a Ziploc bag, and take it with you each day. I usually eat it in 2 separate snacks, and it's surprisingly filling!

2. Fat-Free Reddi Whip! I know this sounds strange, but when I splurge on something like belgian waffles or a shake, I use this instead of the whipped cream they would normally put on it. Amazingly good, and only 5 calories per serving!

:)

Congratulations!

If you're not on the DDP, I would recommend going to Hollywood Brown Derby for lunch one day and getting the Cobb Salad as your entree. I always get it without the cheese and with dressing on the side, but it's one of the most delicious salads at WDW.

I like the fat- free reddi whip too, it feels like a splurge, when it really isn't! 1 question though, do you carry a can with you when you eat out? That seems a little inconvenient:confused3

The apple is a good tip too, I always try to eat some type of fruit before a meal so I'm not "starving" and overeat.

My Dr. gave me good advice. He said to stay away from things that are "white." Meaning, bread, potatoes, rice, pasta, etc. Good advice because these foods are full of worthless calories. :)

In my opinoin, it tastes just like full-fat whipped cream! Yes, I do carry it with me, but only when I know for sure that I'll be ordering something that would normally require whipped cream. For instance, since I already know that I'll be getting a few cappuccino drinks and belgian waffles in the World, I will def have it with me on those days. I just keep it in the fridge til we leave, then put it in one of those BYO insulated water bottle carriers and stick it in my purse. And I am definitely NOT one of those girls carrying around a big ol' bag! My purses are medium-sized, at best!

This might sound crazy to some, but for me, the slight hassle is far outweighed by the positive!

(I just re-read this, and I really hope people don't start referring to me as "Crazy Reddi-Whip Girl"!!) :thumbsup2

LOL, I could just picture myself sitting at a table in WDW while we are sitting down to eat, and me whipping out a can of Reddi-Whip from my purse, shaking it up and spraying it all over my waffles. My family would be horrified, but I'd be in whipped cream heaven:rotfl::cheer2:

We liked the light choices at SAB-Hurricane Hanna's, if on your way to EPCOT you could stop by for lunch. The salad was very good.

Vegetable Wrap - wheat tortilla with Kalamata hummus, roasted and raw vegetables, toasted in sun-dried tomato pesto with cabbage slaw $7.79

Grilled Chicken Salad - Served with mixed greens, dried cranberries, white cheddar cheese, croutons and white balsamic dressing $8.59

Turkey Sandwich - smoked turkey served on a sourdough baguette, basil Mayonnaise and fresh mozzarella cheese with cabbage slaw $8.39

I'd like to hear your story too OP! I recently lost 65lbs over an 8 month period, so I know how much work it takes, but 160 lbs is just amazing!:thumbsup2

That's awesome too! I'm down 9 lbs., 57 lbs. left until I reach my dream weight. How did you do it?

congrats on everyone's weight loss. i took off 40 lbs before my trip to wdw last december and was having the same concerns. i went to allears ahead of time to make sure the places we booked...including the table service venues had options to fit with my style of eating. we follow a mediterranean/asian high fiber diet so we were careful with our portions for the most part. also we shared any dessert or appetizer we wanted and avoided the heavy fried type of stuff. we let ourselves enjoy our vacation but didn't go stupid. on the two occasions we went into places like pecos bills i ordered a wrap or off the kids menu w/fruit on the side. i found places like flying fish, citricos, california grill in particular all had great dishes that still fit in with our style of eating. i have a little more to go and use my next disney trip as my dangling carrot to keep me on track.

We are going in May and are aiming to not go too crazy -- DH and I have been following WW for a year. We sat down and reviewed the menus posted on the Dis and AllEars and while we made some choices because we wanted to (the Biergarten!) we made more based on the menu and the possibility of making good choices. we also cruised through all of the CS menus and rated them according by the number of good choices on the menu (pizzafari got a 0!:rotfl:). you are welcome to check out my list (follow my sig to my PTR) but may want to review the menus yourself, knowing what foods you've been eating to bring you this far.

give yourself a big pat on the back for coming this far (I am -43 with 100 to go, 10 at a time!!) and enjoy yourself. just pick the splurges that are worth it to YOU not what everyone else thinks!

Congratulations on your weight loss! Everyone has great advice, and I'll just add a few things. I too have lost weight and I don't want to gain it back. However, you are going to be on vacation. You don't want to deprive yourself totally, or you'll just end up feeling sorry for yourself and frustrated. This is what I'm going to do.......I know of hundreds of things that sound good that I'd like to eat, but I am going to make a list of absolutely MUST HAVE-can't go without treats. I am going to skip soda for most of the trip, however at Yak N' Yeti they have this fabulous "ocean water" soda drink that I can't find anywhere at home that I'll treat myself to. I want some "schoolbread" from Norway, so I am going to cut it in half and share it with my husband. I also will allow myself a dole whip. Definitely drink lots of water. When you are at restaurants, don't think you have to clear the plate because you paid so much. Disney gives huge portions, so try to share with someone else. Eating small several times a day is MUCH better than all at once at a huge meal. You won't feel deprived then and it will keep your blood sugar level. Also, don't let it get you down if you gain five pounds or so. That is a lot due to sodium, and as long as you're dedicated to sticking to your healthy lifestyle when you get home, you'll be just fine. Have a great time and enjoy yourself!
