We are going to SSR in August :goodvibes and would like to visit the shops located in the Pleasure Island area. If I understand it correctly, the area is open without charge from 11 to 7. We are not interested in the nightclubs so we do not believe purchasing a ticket just to shop would be necessary. Are our assumptions correct?????

Yes. As long as you do not want to go into a club, you do not need a ticket to enter PI - even after 7 pm. I am not sure if all of the shops/restaurants in the area are open much before 7, though.

Best wishes -

Thank you for the info. We were at Disney last year and was not able to get into the area without a ticket. I have read where you can get in without a ticket during the afternoon but in the evening the area that has the clubs require a ticket to be able to walk through.

Disney recently started an "experiment" at PI - you show your ticket at the first club you want to enter and get your wristband then. No ticket needed to just walk around. If you do a search on the Theme Parks Board or ask your question there, you'll get more recent info on how that all works.

Best wishes -

We were there in October. You can walk around in the shops and all around pleasure island without a ticket. If you want to go into a club, you must have a ticket and wristband is issued for alcohol. We take the kids with us. DD is 12 and DS is 9. We all love the comedy club! It's all improv with audience participation and all of the comedy is "clean" because it's "Disney". :earboy2:

Any rumors if they are / aren't going to keep this up? We experienced this last December - right when it started - and the Club personel didn't like that the ticket-checking was dumped on them. But I can see how Disney wants to get more PM traffic in the stores, restaurants and street bars.

We were in WDW in 2000 and they use to let us through all the way up to 9PM or so w/o a ticket, we had UPH tickets so it didn't make too much of a difference to us. But when we returned in 2002, we were quite disappointed to see they locked the gates until the evening and then you had to use your tickets to get through then. This use to be a favorite little walk through and check out the shops until this. Our son was only 2 at the time so we didn't really want to be down there when the clubbers were out.....not that I have a issue with them, I like to have fun too, I just didn't think my son needed to be around it. AS a matter of fact I remember going through about 7 or 8 and a band starting up on stage...........he loved that. A lot of families kind of just stopped to listen for a song or 2 then would just stroll on like us.
