Pleasure Island

It still exists as the middle part of Downtown Disney, but it's not operating the way it used to. Back in the day, you paid an admission that worked as a cover charge so you could enter a variety of bars and clubs. They held a New Year's Eve type celebration every night at midnight with live entertainers.

You can go there now and dine or drink at Raglan Road, Cooke's of Dublin, and Paradiso 37. I think the new hot air balloon ride is stationed there as well, but the rest of it is all boarded up.

I believe that the demolition of the Adventurers Club is supposed to begin today (the last events there were this past weekend). Some of the other clubs have already had everything ripped out of them. I'm not sure when the bulldozers are supposed to move through. It's all part of the "bold new vision" Disney has for that area. . . which so far seems to consist of a tequila bar/restaurant which is run by an outside company (and is apparently very similar to some other Orlando area restaurants) plus a pocorn stand and sad little dance party. :sad2:

I wish Disney would have relocated both the Comedy Club and Adventurers Club...seems they could have found a place to put them...maybe the Boardwalk:confused3...both were very entertaining with an excellent cast.

I loved the Adventurers Club. It was completely unique. The Comedy Club was fun once a year for me. It became predictable, but it is hard to believe that it wasn't a money maker for WDW. I have never been there when it wasn't full and there wasn't a line to get in. The Adventurers Club is a big loss.

Disney wanted all 3rd party participants there. Of course now that the economy has tanked, good luck filling the spaces.
