Pleasure Island Offers Increased Accessibility

Walt Disney World Resort will soon give clients easier accessibility throughout the Downtown Disney® shopping, dining, and entertainment district - to experience all the excitement that the area has to offer.

From May 23 through Aug. 14, Downtown Disney® Pleasure Island will temporarily operate as an un-gated area, allowing clients to free-flow through Pleasure Island during evening operations, without admission and enjoy Pleasure Island shops, restaurants, Westend Stage entertainment and the nightly midnight "New Year's Eve" fireworks display.

Admission will still be required for entry into any of the eight Pleasure Island nightclubs and is included with an Ultimate Park Hopper Ticket, Park Hopper Plus Ticket or purchased for $20.50 (before tax) per adult.

This is very cool! We haven't been to Pleasure Island, mainly because we aren't "club people" and I didn't want to pay an entrance fee just to walk through.

If this is true, I think I'll check the place out in a few weeks!

This seems no different than the allowing of guests in free during the day but requiring the purchase of a wrist band to enter clubs, except of course that one does not have to go early to do it. This is probably a good marketing strategy. Let people not inclined to pay in for free, if they want to enter a club or even buy a drink, they'll have to pony up. They're suppposed to be checking wrist bands anyway so if one in ten freebies decides to pay it's a net gain for WDW with no downside I can see.
