Ok, I also have to say this:
PI should be for ages 21 and over. I remember being 18 and SOOO wanting to get into clubs and just not being old enough. It stinks, but there is a reason why the drinking age is 21 and over. I don't know about anyone else, but i really miss being able to go to PI and walk from club to club, buying jello shots along the way or those little beaker things filled with a drink. I am not a big drinker in every day life. Frankly I rarely even have so much as a glass of wine, BUT when I am on vacation and kids are either at a kid's club, or home with Grandma, and I don't have to drive, I would like to be a grown up and spend a nice evening reliving my youth with my husband. The last time I was at PI (before the kids were allowed in and you still had to pay) I saw some of the 18 year olds trying to get their over 21 friends to buy them drinks and I am happy to say their friends would not do it. I think it is awful that this is the possible reason for the age change rule allowing the kids in but what else could it be? If they are only going to serve the drinks in the clubs, then there is no worry of what goes on in the street so why not allow kids? Umm how about because people get drunk and then wander up and down the street acting like fools (yet having a blast)? I am 33 years old, and if i want to act like a silly fool I should not have to worry about little kiddos being around to observe my horrible example!! I am not hurting anyone, and let's face it-you would have to spend a fortune on those watered down drinks to get anywhere near beligerant or anything close to it. But at the end of a nice day dealing with the kids at the parks, or waiting in lines, sometimes a nice little buzz in in order. This is one reason why the last couple of trips we have not gone to PI (2 trips this year after the age change). We should as adults be able to enjoy an adult atmosphere. The hours alone of PI dictate adult fun. Kids can't get into the Clubs so why allow them? So parents can shop at the stores there that are open during the day? No wonder attendance is slipping. They should keep the clubs that are doing well, revamp the ones that are not and turn it back into the PI it was made to be, hence the name PLEASURE Island not Pesky Prude Pediatric Island. Ok there. Now I have vented! Sorry if i offended any parents that like to take their children to PI.
