Pleasure Island rehab

The new bridge at the west end will connect the main "street" of Westside directly to PI, and the bridge will rise to the elevation of the street in PI so that stairs are not required.

The Adventurers Club is free from 7 to 9 right now, after 9 you need a wrist band. There are more families and kids there during that time, and especially on Thursdays when there is a DVC block party from 5-7pm - those attending can get free admission to PI the rest of the night.

It did not seem to dampen things too much at the Adventurer's Club, but I did see them check themselves once for not being careful enough with kids around.

We went to the Comedy Warehouse and noticed all 3 nights we were there that there were undersize audiences showing up for shows... Used to be the line was full to capacity well before shows started... the first shows were 1/4 to 1/3 capacity and later shows looked like they might not be filling up... this was last week.

The former middle stage will be a walkway down to a new dock. There is a concept drawing hanging up on the canvas "wall" outside BET and AC.

I like having a more adult area too. I have a son & now that he is grown, we can finally enjoy PI more. Most of WDW is a Family Free Zone, but there are still alot of adults that like to chiil out there too.

No matter how you slice it, an area of clubs is never going to be family friendly. Why wreck it by trying to make it something it's not?

Bite your tongue oldschool... that's another plus to PI... even if they do make it more family friendly wouldn't the number of little ones thin out after nine or ten?... if they close at ten there goes even that small hope!...

So no one knows around about when they "think" they might be done with it?... I'm a little disappointed to hear that not only will there be a crane beside the castle during our upcoming trip, but PI is torn up too!... What other construction is going on during the second week of Sept.?... :sad2:

40 Days to Disney!... :goodvibes

When will the crane be gone? Any construction in November?

When we finally got to see Cindy's Castle, it had GIANT "toilet paper" strewn all around ---- Stitch Tee-pee'd it!
Yikes! :sad2:

Construction is slated to be completed in December.

Lets hope they get it done ahead of schedule, its a mess right now.

You would think the young ones would thin out but i remember going to the extra magic hours at the mk last oct and it was midnight and it was a 45 min wait for SM with a lot of really cranky youngins. my point was that if they decieded to close pi earlier then then the nighttime options are almost non-existent.

I think the crane is supposed to be gone from the castle by 10/10 - they are taking down the HCOE decorations and re-painting. Supposedly the work will be done at night and the crane folded down behind the castle during operating hours so you won't see it from the front. I'm glad we will be there on the 7th before they start so we can see it as is and catch Cinderellabration and Mickey's House before they close.

Anyone have an update on the construction at PI? Is it still a mess?

And most importantly... Will Frankie & The West End boys still be there when this is all over?????? :scared1:

That's the same question I asked upon hearing the news of West End Stage. I love those guys, especially their rendition of 'Radar Love'.

Yes, but less of a mess than it was. The new bridge/entrance gate look complete, tho they are not open yet (as of early last week, anyway). The area around BET/AC has been cleared up and is now more open than ever. However, the stores down the main walkway are still walled off. Definite progress, but still a ways to go.

I hated it when it became a free for all...they need to bring the hard ticket back. It lost the feel it once had. :sad2:

:furious:

i wish that they would change p.i. back to having to buy a ticket just to get in. i used to really love it there but ever since they made the changes i get there and frustrated and bored after like a hour. Am i the only one?

So when do they predict this construction to be over with. I am going Aug. 2007

I cannot believe they are doing this. I loved the all adult feel about it. But of course the last time I went, was when I was 18. Oh my God! and to get rid of my 8-trax. What the hey! WOW, I am soooo upset right now. I can't believe this is happening. I am sooooo going to cry. I was looking forward to visiting this great place again. I always felt like I was in the Pinnochio Movie, being a big bad kid dancing and partying all night long. I got to say Disney blows at this moment. I was hoping they would open one up in California. No hope there then. This was one of my favorite places in Florida overall. Booo on Disney right now. BIG THUMBS DOWN ON THIS IDEA!

When I visited PI in mid-October, construction was still in full swing.
They had taken down the construction tarps on the AC side, but the tarps are now up on the other side, meaning that you have to enter 8 Trax from the rear entrance.
I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

In reference to the children in bars...I visited the Adventurers' Club and many castmembers made reference to it during thier dialougues!! It was actually quite amusing...they used a line straight out of the movie Sweet Home Alabama..."you have a child. in a bar." They didn't let it affect they things they were talking about though!
