I am trying to decide if I should go to Pleasure Island (which I have never seen) Wednesday night or Saturday night. How do the crowds compare?

We will be there February 26-March 2. What special happens at Mardi Gras, and what nights is it?

Thanks!!

Whichever night you go, be sure to stop by The Adventurers Club and have a drink from a Yakmoose Skull!!!

Kungaloosh!!!!:p

I would think Wed night. I don't have a LOT of experience to go by with that... only that it was slower on Mon/Tues that I went than on a Sat.

But here's my thinking- wed night is midweek for WDW travellers/guests. Thursday morning is MK extra magic hour. Most likely a LOT of the guests are not going to want to stay out late the night before that.
Plus it's a church night- so residents of the area (or atleast some of them) are going to be going to church... and it's in the middle of their work week.

Sat night is also the night before MK extra magic hour BUT it's also a NOT weeknight, usually considered "date night" and residents won't be expecting to go to work the next day (atleast not those that work M-F work weeks).

I think sat night is going to be a lot busier than Wed night. Just my opinion. :)

Oh and yes, do check out Adv. club but don't waste your money on a skull that just costs you more money for the same amount of alcohol. Consider that a PSA. LOL

Wednesday is CM night. It can get crowded. I also think that Magic Hour at the MK won't make a bit of differencce. I think the crowd that will frequent PI for longer and later hours is not concerned with getting up early. JMHO.

Thanks for the help. I am now a little confused. I hold been told before that Thursday is CM night. has this changed in the last year or two? Can someone verify for me? Thanks!!!

I may be wrong but I think it's Wed. I know that Thursday is 80s night @ 8Trax.

The last we were there, Nov. 2002, CM night was Thurs. Also, we were there 2 years ago during Mardi Gras week and PI was pretty hoppin' all week.

CM night is Thursday not Wednesday. My daughters love going on Thursdays when we are there as they have several CM friends that can join them. If I go on Thursday I am guaranteed to be on my own since the girls don't want to hang with Mom when they can hang with friends.

I think that Pleasure Island is more fun when it's hopping.
I've been there on weeknights when it was very quiet, it's just not as much fun.
I'm also pretty sure some of the live bands aren't there during the week.
There's a schedule somewhere but I can't find it right now.
Have a great time! :)

CM night is Thursday. I was there with 2 TDS CM friends on Feb 6. It wasn't very crowded.

I think it was in 2000 that we were there for this week, there was a parade based in the New Orleans Mardi Gras parades held twice nightly. Beads were tossed from floats as in the real thing, but I don't recall any women 'earning' the beads as happens in NO. This is Disney after all!

Curious why you would think that. I went to PI and also took advantage of extra magic hour- ESPECIALLY when it was MK's day for EMH.

???

I didn't say that people that went to PI would stay there late AND also get up the next morning early for extra magic hour - my point was that on a night where MK is the extra magic hour park the next day that SOME might avoid PI the night before in an effort to get more sleep to be sure to get up early the next morning!!

As I read your quote above it says you don't have a LOT of experience with PI to go by. It also says in your quote you think a LOT not some would avoid PI due to EMH. You were the one that capped LOT.

My experience with PI from being there multiple times on multiple trips is what I stated. Those that will be at PI for longer hours are not the demographic that would use EMH. I think you (generic you not you) overestimate the number of people that use EMH. Again that is jmo not based on fact.

Some things to think about when looking at how big a crowd has the potential to be. How many conventions are there onsite? What time of year? Do you see groups of younger adults in the parks?

I understand that PI's Mardi Gras festivities are on February 28, March 1, and March 4. I'll be there March 1 and 4. By Wednesday of that week the whole thing will be over, and apparently they won't be having any of that on Sunday, March 2 or Monday, March 3.

Thursday is CM night.

And I almost always end up at PI and do NOT mess around with early entry. I'm a night owl and not a morning person. But I'm only one person and what I do will not reflect what anybody else does.
