Pleasure Island and 4 year old

penel3, sorry you feel so offended by the responses here. I thought they were rather good and not insulting to one's parenting skills. I am surprized you are taken back that most parents and adults don't approve of taking young children to night clubs, and many feel strongly about this. Personaly I think most responses have been mild, and a few say they don't see anything wrong with it.

If you want to stay together on a family vacation, do family things. PI is Disney's adult only non family venue. Would you rather keep your kid with you when you go to a rated R movie, then allow them to be in a safe appropriate environment.

Since PI is a adult establishment, most adults who want an evening out don't really want to be around other peoples children, that is why if they have them, they leave with in responsible care. That is something to keep in mind also.

I hope you have a nice family vacation. You asked if you felt it was a good move, you got answers. Make your choice based on that and your own feelings.

I would NEVER take my children to PI in the evening. We did the PI thing "BK" (before kids) and it was pretty wild. I remember seeing test tube shots sold on the streets, and lots of drunken antics to boot! Would you take your kids to a bar at night? PI is like an indoor/outdoor bar!

My goodness, I just don't get the "my kids want to go so we are going" thing! MY kids want to eat Hershey Bars for breakfast, but I don't let them because they aren't good for them!! Sometimes you have to put your foot down and do what is appropriate!

I don't mean to offend the person who said that, but I just don't get that mentality, I guess!

With that said, this is America and we all have the right to raise our kids the way we see fit. It's obviously your choice, although many will disagree with you!

Lets awaken the demon, I still say there is nothing wrong and you are not a bad parent, but again much more "knowledgeable" people have said people that take their kids here are not good parents.

I guess sometimes a post 'hits a nerve' - like this topic! Some time ago I asked the same question in regards to taking my 2 DGDs (7+11). Most of the responses I got at the time were positive and agreed that an early evening in the CC and AC was ok. Based on that post, we purchased PHP passes specifically to use at PI with the kids. We're going Nov 3-8 and had planned on going to PI on arrival day. I'm a pretty staid grandma and now I feel like I'm doing something wrong! My DD and the girls have been looking forward to this evening - what to do, what to do?! Quite a dilemma!

Consider the Boardwalk. Family style street entertainment. A cone from Seashore Sweets. A few arcade games. A ride on the bike.

A more wholesome Pleasure Island experience.

(I wish Disney would make Jellyrolls and Atlantic Dance family clubs until 10:00pm)
