Hi all!

I know how we all love to vote in polls, so here is another one :)

Our next trip is for the very end of October, into the first of November. How is the weather? Shorts weather? Is it cool(er) at night? Warm enough to swim comfortably at the Pop Century pool without freezing when you get out of the water??

I want to know what to pack to wear at Pop Century and the parks :)

Having previously lived in both So Florida and Orlando I can tell you the "NORM" is very warm at that time of year, you might need a light weight jacket in the evenings on some nights. I always remember it being very hot for trick-or-treating and wearing shorts for the most part at Thanksgiving and Christmas. But I was at Disney this past January and just abour froze :cold: my butt off! Just check weather.com before you leave.

I haven't been able to wear Halloween costumes at MNSSHP the 3rd week in Oct, just Halloween tshirts, but then we're from cold New England.

We went to Typhoon Lagoon at the end of October in 1996 and it was hot. We called home to check in and my mom said it had SNOWED (that's the earliest I remember Missouri getting snow) so we rubbed it in that we had been swimming all day :rotfl: Definitely shorts and swimsuits weather in FL!

DS14 and I went a couple of years ago on Thanksgiving and we were swimming in the pool that night (we're from San Francisco) but my sister and her two daughters thought we were crazy (they are from Houston). I think it just depends on where you are from and the temps you are used to. On the other hand, 6 days into our trip, it turned cold and, though I had packed a pair of jeans, I had to buy a sweatshirt to be able to see Illuminations at night and not freeze.

I think the weather's going to be great at that time. We once visited the 3rd week of October -- perfect weather (no humidity) during the day for touring the parks or swimming. Can't really remember the eves, just remember overall the weather was great. We've also been there the 1st week of December. Again, shorts during the day, definitely warm enough to swim. In the evening, it was a little cooler so we wore sweatshirts.

We're going November 9 and we're definitely planning to swim in the evenings. Love those heated pools! In fact, I think it was you, Seaspray, that suggested watching the MK fireworks from the pool at the Poly. Am I right?

We went that at that same time last year and swam day/night and went to the water park (TL). One evening it was chilly getting out of the pool but it felt great in the pool. We just dries off really fast! :)

We took sweatshirts for the kids in the parks at night in case it got cool (but wore shorts/tshirts all day).

YAY! Thanks everyone! I am SO looking forward to being at WDW in nice weather :sunny: Our trip back in May of 2001 was excellent weather, but just last month... well... we had a great time and made the best of it, but the heat and high humidity (heat index over 100 every day) really slowed us down a LOT.

Anyway, thanks for the comments!!! :wave2:

Oh, and yes, PJV57, it was me who suggested watching Wishes from the pool when you're staying at the Polynesian! :sunny:

Hi SeaSpray! :wave2: In 2002 I went to WDW in October 20th to 25 in 2002 and I swam in the Volcano pool every night. It was more than warm enough and it got pretty humid during the day. I come from Chicago and it was cold when we left. I found both pools at the Poly real warm and my kids and I enjoyed ourselves. I can't vouch for how warm it will be when you get there but I found it a great time to go. Wasn't too crowded either.

I can't believe you're going to Pop Centry after just staying at the Poly just a few months ago. Won't you have Polynesian withdrawls! LOL!! :rotfl:

I think a lot has to do with where you're from. We're from the mountains of western NC and we usually have snow by mid to late October. So the weather in FL in late October and early November is HOT for us. We went last October and wore shorts all the time and swam day and night!!

I am sitting here chuckling :earboy2: There are ten weeks before this trip. I am wondering if we will indeed end up staying at Pop Century afterall. lol I am already starting to think about a split stay between Pop Century and the Wilderness Lodge. LOL I mentioned this to my DH last night and he said, "The Wilderness Lodge? How about the Polynesian!?!" We both LOVED the WL, but I honestly don't think any other resort, even the Grand Floridian, can compare to the Polynesian. :sunny: The struggle for us is to try and keep this trip as inexpensive as possible! So I am now trying to NOT be tempted to switch resorts. We will be dining at the Polynesian at least twice on this trip! :flower:

P.S. To answer your question more directly, YES I am ALREADY having Polynesian withdrawals! I am drinking my morning coffee from my (ceramic) Polynesian Resort coffee mug! (We really need a coffee mug smiley face! LOL) I have the leis from our trip draped over my "Tropical Mickey and Minnie" desk lamp, and I have a Pineapple Paradise candle burning here too. hehehehe..... What can I say? I love Disney and I love a tropical theme :flower:

My girlfriend has pictures of her dd in AK at this time of year. The kid is streaming with sweat!!! But, we have gone at this time of year and it has been cold!! In '99 it was so chilly the leaves on the rhodedendrum bushes were all folded in on themselves at night. But, after several trips at this time of year I think those are two extremes. It has been nice and warm, almost toasty during the day, with cool evenings. I have swum at the time of year and been very comfortable. What I do if traveling then is to travel in my jeans and a sweatshirt. Since it can get cool on the plane that works nicely. Then you have the warmer clothes in WDW if you need them but don't have to take up space in the suitcase for them.

It definately will be warm enough to swim. I almost always go to WDW the beginning of Nov. :sunny: Will be there again Oct.29-Nov.5 Just love that time of the year down there. :cheer2:

Thanks everyone! :)

The idea to wear jeans and sweatshirt on the plane is a good one. I was thinking of doing that, it will probably be too cool up here in Massachusetts for shorts when we're leaving anyway. :cold: (<--- well maybe not THAT cold). lol

I remember many years ago when I was in High School the Fair would visit during the last week in October, I always needed a new outfit and it would have to include a new sweater. Fair Night would always be the first night anyone would wear a sweater. While we live a little north of Orlando the nights do start getting cooler during this time.

While we are still wearing shorts during the day, capri pants/jeans and a light cover are comfy some nights. October-Average Highs 79: Average Low 63: November-Highs 72: Low 55: The weather in May/October are usually perfect here in Florida. I dont' say, "What a nice day" I say "What a beautiful Disney Day."

Last time we went was the first week of November. We swam every day but one, not because it was too cold just because we chose not to swim that day. We wore shorts and t-shirts in the parks every day also and took along sweatshirts for at night. Sometimes we wore them and sometimes we didn't. It was definitely warm enough then! We even wore tank tops on our last day because it was getting a bit hot.

If you can stay at Pop Century after a beautifull stay at the Poly, then you're true Disney fan. I can't stay anywhere else after being at the Poly because I just love the tropical theme as well and it just makes a trip to Disney so much better. I just stayed at the Poly for my birthday in May of this year and thought, this will be my last trip for at least a couple of years. Would you believe I'm getting ready to try and book another stay at the Poly in June of 2006? :rotfl: I must be crazy or have a bad case of the Poly fever! I've even bought some of the furnishings that came from the Poly by a company called Mouse Surplus. Pretty soon I'll have my own little piece of the Poly in my home.

P.S. Have a good trip and don't worry about the weather or Pop Century, it will be fine. Sorry for rambling on about the Poly. Once you get me started about the Poly, it's hard for me to stop.

It's been incredibly hot this year. I'm sure it will still be hot in October (and November and even December). Of course we could get a freak snow storm to balance out the super hot summer we've been having! :)
My guess is you will be in the pool every evening to cool off.

We stayed at POP end October/beginning of November last year. The main pool, the Hippie Dippie pool was pretty cool at night, especially under those flower spray fountains!

We did however, find that the Computer pool was warmer and the Bowling pin pool warmer still (in fact very warm). My theory was that the larger the pool, the cooler it was. The Royal Pacific's pool (where we stayed the first four nights) was much colder than any of POP's pools - made the Hippie Dippie pool seem like a hot tub.

BTW, none of this has put me off - we're going back at this time of year - 1 week end of October - it's still a great time to go.
