Please turn on your blinker BEFORE you

I'm at the point now where I just beg that people use them AT ALL.
It seems around here people have forgotten that turn signals exist.

I live on a rural farm road (it's only been paved for 5 years). I put my blinker on before I turn into my own driveway even when there's nobody behind me. Blinking before making a move is just second nature.

I do, too!! Wow, this has GOT to be my biggest driving pet peeve. I was CONVINCED that people had their directionals removed the minute they left the dealership!:mad:

Although I will say that when I'm trying to pull out onto a road, and waiting for traffic to clear, even when someone is signaling that they are turning right onto the road where I'm sitting, I still wait until they are actually turning before I go out onto the road. But they still should signal. Not signaling is either lazy or being inconsiderate of other drivers.

I agree. Just because someone does use their turn signal and you pull out in front of them because you assume they're turning doesn't mean you're not at fault if they continue straight and hit you.

I do wish people would use turn signals more often, though.

This drives me crazy too. I live in a small town and I swear that these people can't drive!:rolleyes1

I also hate traveling on the interstate and come up on someone driving slow in the left lane!:headache: If people are passing you on the right, that's a big:idea: signal that YOU ARE IN THE WRONG LANE! I had this happen to and from Orlando this past week. It drove me crazy!:headache:

Not turning one's blinker on to indicate a turn is a HUGE pet peeve of mine.

Come on people, I'm not a mind reader.....use your signals!

begin to slow down or apply your brakes.

The purpose of the turn signal is to communicate what you're going to do BEFORE you do it.

Are you the person I always seem to get behind on a two lane road, 45 mph speed limit, who suddenly slows way down, then brakes hard, THEN turns on your turn signal?...thanks for the warning pal.

Or...if I'm sitting at a stop sign, waiting to pull out of a side road, and you're approaching the side road...how about a little blinker so I know you're going to turn...so I can go ahead and pull out without having to sit and wait and watch as you slowly approach and turn...never having signaled your intentions.

:headache::mad:

oh yes I agree with you!! this is a big pet peeve of mine, along with the ones who come to the complete stop before turning.

oh and we still have traffic roundabouts here and my other peeve is when I am waiting to enter the roundabout and someone is coming around, no signal on, on the inside lane, so I start to enter, then they blow their horn and give me a dirty look because they are turning off.
well ok, how about you USE YOUR SIGNAL so people know what you are doing!!

I was starting to think they didn't put turn signals on cars any more.

Also, don't pull out in front of me and then not accelerate. If I am moving at the speed limit and have to slam on my brakes or slow considerably, then you did not have time to pull out... or at least accelerate up to speed!

Oh that is so true! :lmao: Boston scares me sometimes. :scared1:

I have twice been hit, as a pedestrian, by right-turning cars because they did not use their turn signals. I looked at the car (the first two cars at the intersection, actually), no signal, so I went ahead and started across the street, whereupon I had a close encounter with the front bumper of the idiot's vehicle.

People, pedestrians CHECK for turn signals; don't blame them if they cross the road in front of you when you fail to use them.

Oh this drives me BATTY.

Folks, the left lane is NOT the place where you hang out & go the same speed as the person in the right hand lane.

The obliviousness of some people is astounding. Do they not see a line of cars in their rear view?!

I might get flames for this, but here goes. We live in a small-medium sized town (about 40,000 people) but there are MUCH smaller towns around us (think most under 1,000 people). It drives me to distraction that they drive on our main roads doing a leisurely 20 mph in a 45 mph zone. Now before anyone says they're just nervous driving in a large city - this is not Chicago or something. It's not a booming metropolis with 6 lane highways. The speed limit is nothing to be scared of. :)

I also hate traveling on the interstate and come up on someone driving slow in the left lane!:headache: If people are passing you on the right, that's a big:idea: signal that YOU ARE IN THE WRONG LANE! I had this happen to and from Orlando this past week. It drove me crazy!:headache:

And just as annoying.

Those of us who do use a turn signal and have it on indicating that we are turning left, crossing 2 lanes of on coming traffic, but the moran behind you is oblivious to the fact that you turned on your turn signal far enough in advance that they could have moved over into the right lane and continued on down the road.

But Noooooo, the moran ignores the signal and has to come to a stop behind you, stopping so close that they can now not get around you, so they are stuck sitting behind you. And as they sit there, they are glaring at you and gesturing, even going so far as to blow their horn at you, all the while you are sitting there waiting for traffic to clear, so you can make that left handed turn your signal has been indicating you are going to make.

I really wish the DMV would make you retest every so many years for your license. Maybe that would help make people retain information.

People's lack of driving commom courtesy and common sense drives (no pun intended) me nuts! When my oldest son was about 4, my Dad asked him, "Does your Mom ever honk the horn at other drivers"? My son responded, "No. She just calls them idiots". I try not to say that outloud anymore, but I am saying it to them inside my head.

We live in a small beach community which is also a major tourist area. It drives me crazy how people poke along in the fast lane, don't use their turn signal properly, or cut across 6 lanes of traffic to turn into a beachwear store and almost cause a wreck...or everyone is squealing brakes not to hit them. In the last case, there are beachwear stores on just about every block....which makes it all the more ridiculous. Just get someone badly injured or killed to save a dollar. Idiots.

People in our town have a bad habit of not using their turn signal. When I first moved here 30+ years ago, it scared me, now it's just annoying.

I remember the instructor like it was yesterday (and it certainly wasn't!)

I do like when people put their blinkers on in ample time, however if you maintain proper following distance you should be okay and not need to mega slam on your breaks:)

While true, blinkers are there for a reason. You are legally supposed to use them.

My favorite no use of blinkers story is when you get behind a really old pickup truck out here in the country that doesn't have working blinkers OR brake lights.

Oh, good lord no. We don't use turn signals here. That's giving secrets to the enemy.
