Congrats on the great news and best of luck with your beloved kitty! I am a cat lover, but we found out last year that our middle son is allergic. 
So we gave our cat to my mom (where she is happier anyway as my mom is an even BIGGER cat lover!) 
We had 5 cats at one point and spent a lot of money on them with vet bills and such. People would think we're nuts for spending so much on our cats. They just didn't get it, they were family!
