Please tell me which airlines you use.

Now I'm feeling left out of all these spooky connections! Okay, so I'm a CFA (come from away) but I'm here now and I'm staying, bad flights or no bad flights!

Continental out of Halifax isn't cheap but they always seem to have the best deals and schedules when I book for my repeated December open-jaws Halifax to Orlando, Fort Myers to Halifax.

We flown Delta twice. Once out of Fredericton and once out of Bangor. You can get some pretty good prices out of Bangor.

Don't worry MBB, I won't reveal your secret identity. :teeth:

I have to drive 8 hours just to find a decent airport. We are 8 hours out of Vancouver. If I go to Prince George, I still have to connect in Vancouver to get anywhere. And the general price of a flight from PG to Vancouver is around $400 return per person on sale.

We are driving 11 hours to Seattle in order to fly Delta which we got at $323 CDN per person return. Out of Vancouver it was over $700. Even with 2 hotel nights in Seattle I am saving a bundle. Just have a huge drive.

We are still hoping for flights out of Halifax in April, nothing looks good yet. Just did the trip to Bangor last weekend, if we were more sure of good weather we could maybe try that. Its about 5 1/2 hours straight driving and if we did, it could take a day away from being under the sun in Orlando. Where are all the seat sales??

Ken, we used to live in Victoria, and this trip my sister is flying from there to join us. She's getting best prices and schedules on Alaska Air, both from Victoria and Seattle (and presumably Vancouver). That reminds me, I'm supposed to be watching Alaska for her! We flew Alaska once from SeaTac to Las Vegas, and the service was very good, reminiscent of West Jet.

(I used to have to fly to PG on business occasionally, and boy howdy, yep, that can be expensive.)

I graduated from Mt A. 86 and 87. I now teach at KVHS since 88. Its a small world after all.

Hey, can I play? I grew up in Barney's River (come on Jeff ,Joanne, and Mary Beth, I KNOW you've all seen the sign on the TransCanada!)

Now that I've relocated to the Land of Milk and Honey (Ottawa), we drive 3.5 hours to Syracuse and fly JetBlue. I don't think I would ever fly Delta, no matter how cheap the flights are because they are NOTORIOUS for changing your flight times, cancelling flights altogether and rebooking you on completely different flights! I read a thread earlier this week about somebody who's flight was changed 5 times!

Pretty sure I didn't go to school with any of you, but that is wild the connections!

SpiritAir out of Detroit (Romulus, Michigan, actually) was just fine. Non-stop flight, great sale prices available at times. Small easy airport & fine Park & Fly options. Thyis info probably won't help any Easterners, but is a great option for us in Ontario.

Thanks to fellow Dis'ers for answering all my anxious Q's about it before. Whole experience was great.

Ahhh, Barney's Rver...land of the "almost to the 4 lane" :teeth:

...but the prettiest stretch of highway, IMO:)

There are no strangers in the Maritimes :goodvibes
And we're all searching for cheap flights!! :rotfl:

:sunny:

We fly out of Buffalo. We have flown Northwest ( never again) We now fly only on Southwest. We love the prices and the flexibility. The service is great too! Have a great trip! :cool1: :cool1:

We flew last february from YYZ on WestJet. Loved the plane and the service. We managed to get a seat sale of $99ca each way - but with taxes and fees the price was about $350 return.

This coming february we're going from Buf on JetBlue. I'm expecting the planes and the service to be comparable (I believe their CEO was the WestJet CEO). We found a seat sale for $59us each way - with taxes and fees that's $149 return.

We didn't have the patience to wait for a potential ding on SouthWest. Our only concern is changing planes in New York one way and Boston the other way - a weather worry in February. SouthWest only had one direct flight on our days and both were sold out of internet fares so we thought we were maybe out of luck with hoping for cheaper with them.

We're driving to Syracuse. It's about 2 hours from where we live. Flying Jetblue for the first time. Not sure what to expect.

The 2 hour drive is more than worth it. We're saving $1250.00 Canadian. To fly out of Montreal it would have cost us $510 return each compared to $260 return.

I'm glad we were able to book the trip around the most economic flight. :cheer2:

We drive from Ottawa to Syracuse (3.5 hours). Jetblue is fabulous, you will love it! They have a sale right now, check your dates. If the fare is lower than what you paid they will give you a credit for future flights. I saved $120 on Thursday because our flight fares dropped by $30 for the return leg. The outgoing flight dropped $20 about a month ago, so right now I have $200 in credit!

Is that right? I'll have to check it out. How do you request the credit if that happens? Thanks for the info!!! When are you flying out?

Sorry, I was out all afternoon. You just call Jetblue and tell them the fares dropped. They will check your reservation and if they still have seats available at the lower price (they only offer so many at a certain price), then they will automatically credit you. They won't refund the money, but they will hold it in a credit for future flights. We had a $240. credit from flights last year that we used when we booked these. Our flights only cost $682. USD for the 4 of us!!!

I flew from Montreal to Los Angeles last year on US Airways. Great flights, right on time and Philadelphia airport is big, but very well organised! I flew on a old Boeing 737 to and from Philadelphia and then a big, brand new Airbus 321. Seats are comfortable and lots of leg room, which is important for me.

In 2002, I flew Continental to Orlando, with a stop in Newark. Perfect.

2000-2001, I flew Air Transat to Paris... WORST AIRLINE EVER! Seats back then were very cramped, service was bad and the only reason the flight was on time is cause it was the only flight leaving from that airport (the now closed Mirabel, in Montreal) that evening! Food was cardboard. On the way back, flight is 12 hours late, no explanations, nothing! As for compensation? None, "cause you flew a charter flight and we can change hours at our discretion".

Since then, when Air Transat refurbished their planes, repainting them, they also changed the seating configuration... Before, like Air Canada, Swiss, Air France, etc., they had seating in a configuration of 2-4-2. When they put the new seats, they took the opportunity to change the seating to 3-3-3. Yep, one more seat per row! So, the aisles are barely wide enough to walk and you're litteraly sitting on each others lap. Air Canada put 260 passengers on their Airbus 330-300, Air Transat packs 360 passengers on the same plane! As for their Club Transat, you're upgrade from "cattle class" to "every other airline economy class". Not bad, huh?
