We're done to almost 2 wks and I'm terrified we're not taking enough $$!!!!!

We've budgeted $1000 for DH and I for 6 days/5nights. We've got PS's at 1900 PF, Sci Fi, LTT, R&C, and Portobello. Obviously our biggest expense will be food! I'm terrified we won't have enough $$ Anybody have any opinions??

Are you planning on lots of souveniers? $200 a day should be good as long as you aren't a power shopper!

That should be plenty. My DD and I did 5 days last year on $700. We had three PS and ate at least one big meal a day. We aren't big into buying stuff on vacation so that helped. We each bought a couple of things and some stuff for DH who couldn't make it.

I'll give you a tip on what I did. Each night I got a printout of what we had spent using our room card. I took the ledger section of my checking account with me (that's where the spending money was) and each night I balanced by account. This keeps you from overspending if you can actually see it daily and it also means no surprises at the end of your stay. Plus, it wasn't a pain to sit down for an hour when we got home an do it.

I'm budgeting $700 for 2 adults, 2 kids having 1 sit down & 1 counter service meal a day. (We plan on eating breakfast in our room). As long as you don't plan on buying lots of souvenirs, you should be fine :)

that should be fine - I wish $1000 would be enough for our trip. I'm thinking 3-4k for our 11 for 7 days.

For this trip I've looked at the resaurants that we booked PS's at and their menus (at allears) to get an idea of about what we'd spend at each. Then I looked at all the menus of the counter service and snack spots in each park. For each day I budgeted the PS amount for that day, about $35.00 for 2 adults and 1 child at a counter service for that day as well, and then $100.00 for snacks and souvenirs (blow money). :)

If we are doing any special treats like the fireworks cruise I budget that on the day that it is planned as well. I get a total for each day and then I've added them up and that's the amount I'm taking. I adopted the envelope system that so many have talked about on these boards that way I KNOW that I won't over spend. I figure the $100.00 cushion money will cover any impulse purchases we may need and as long as I have $$ for the meals alotted, then that's what matters most.

Hope that helps a little :)

You will be with that amount and have plenty of dollars to have a great time. :flower: :goodvibes :wizard:

Should be enough, I would guess. We spent a lot on food too, but our problem was souvenirs and wanting to buy. I am not sure what happens but my family gets to Disney and wants everything in sight!!

I am afraid I will be the same way. LOL. I am a HUGE Tigger fan! So do you think the 1000-1200 is enough for us?

We are pretty budget conscious, and manage to stay under $1000 for (hotel, passes, food) for our usual trip of 6 nights/7 days, also eating at those restaurants. Food is my biggest expense. I am not a souvenir buyer, though, so not sure where that might make a difference for you.

Just have a limit on how much you will be spending. Bring some snacks, sodas, bottled water for your trip. They will save money.

:rotfl: Is there ever enough? :rotfl:

No, really, you should have plenty. $200 a day for two people should be more than fine. I spent less than that for four (3 adult eaters and 1 7y.o.) people and I was not counting dollars. We had at least one sit down meal every day.
Hope you have a blast!!

I think you will have enough money for your trip also. I am trying to create a budget myself....this is the first year we decided not to do the silver plan and use wishes for food :mickeybar

We budgeted about 1000-1200 for everything: gas, food, hotel, tickets.

Could you tell me how you got your tickerfactory ticker to work. I chose the same one you did (that was the only one I liked) and then it came up at the end and said to Cut and Paste it. I did the "cut" and then went under my user profile and deleted the old timer and then tried to paste the new signature and all that showed up was the script. I'm not completely computer illiterate but must be doing something wrong....

Oh, by the way...I think the original poster will have enough money too. We budget $150 per day and that always works fine for us...we don't buy many souviners but the DSs usually get a few.

The 1st time I went down without my fam, I had a whopping 400 bucks in my pocket for 5 days in the parks. It sucked! My friends and I all shared food, and bought like nothing. The next time I went down, I was done being a poor college kid, and had a real job, so I had some big time money, and made up for that other trip. But here I am again... even w/ the job, I find myself poor again, but this time just a 3 days trip... Haha doh...

But Disney on a budget is doable! g/l

Could you teach my wife how to budget? I would love to get hotel, tickets and food for a week for a grand. We purchased the dining plan and figured we would still need another $1500 for the 4 of us Me, DW, Dtwins(8).

There is 2 adults and 1 child in my family--this is the way I plan the trip. We belong to DVC so no worry about the room(before DVC we paid the room off before we arrived)--budget 100 a day for food and snacks. Somedays this included a sitdown and some days it didn't--depended on how hungry we were--(buy DD before arrival)

When we first arrive we go to the grocery store for drinks, snacks, quick breafast items. . .This trip is not included with the above--I budget 100-150 for this run. It also comes out better than buying the mugs and what the food court has to offer.

Souv. I have the CC paid off and I limit that to under 600 unless if it is a special purchase--like the art of disney or something like that.

How does this work--great!!

Have a great time!! I think you will be fine

:wave2:

wow! my roomate and i are going next week and I am budgeting only about $30 per day for food (we are both light eaters)...we will do mostly counter because we'll be busy running from attraction to attraction...but also planning one dinner at Jiko. As for souvies, i plan to buy a silver charm and a couple of xmas ornaments...that's it. Without kids, we don't spend a lot of money on 'toys'.
