Please tell me more about the Sequoia Lodge

Hi there! We were not going to book for 2011, but wait until the 20th anniversary. However due to things not going to plan and a recent 40% offer we have gone and done it again.

We are staying in the Sequoia for 5 nights mid December with a night in the Ashford travelodge the night before and after so going to make a week of it. Can't wait never stayed in the Sequoia and never stayed at DLP for this long.

Please could anyone answer a few questions we had about the Sequoia Lodge.

What is the breakfast like? Are there hot items like the HNY or a scrum like the Santa fe?

What's the pool like? Is it heated, do they supply towels, what time is it usually open, do they supply flotation devices?

What's the advantage in staying in a Montana room?

Do they supply a kettle? do you have to pay to hire one?

It says in the brochure the Sequoia has internet. Is this WIFI can I bring my netbook?

It has no hot items like the HNY, it has rolls, a toaster, selection on meats, yohurts, cereal & pastries, it does get busy but not a scrum.

What's the pool like? Is it heated, do they supply towels, what time is it usually open, do they supply flotation devices?

The pool was a bit chilly last week but once you swim a little while it is warm, think you have to pay for towels. I usually take my own beach towel as its easier. The lockers are free. It was open 7am-10pm last week so the times will probably be similar, may shut earlier though. they have a range of floats, armbands etc.

What's the advantage in staying in a Montana room?

The montana rooms are usually the main building which is advantageous for breakfast in winter, however due to the refurb going on the Montana rooms are the lodges at the moment as they have been refurbished already.

Do they supply a kettle? do you have to pay to hire one?

I think you can hire one, never done it so not 100%

It says in the brochure the Sequoia has internet. Is this WIFI can I bring my netbook?

The Wifi is for the reception/bar area. Its wired internet in the rooms.

What's the best thing about the Sequoia Lodge?

I love the design & feel of it. Have never been in the winter though.

There is frequently a fire lit - have been there in September when it was going - it is lovely to sit near it and warm up or in DD2s case sleep!

From what I remember you could order a hot breakfast for €7.50 or something like that -but it is 2 years since we stayed there so that might have changed.

Best thing about it - hard to say - I just like the feel of it - went to HNY the last time and wasn't that impressed so it is back to Sequoia Lodge for our Halloween trip.

So I need not pack Arm bands. Don't really want to take any towels as they take up a lot of room and we only have a tiny car. The kids might not even want to leave the park. Could we take the towels that they supply in your room?

Hi, we found the pool to be really cold in Feb and October, so it is probably freezing in December! The problem is there is just a screen door to cut off the outside section of the pool, so it is not very effective in keeping the cold out! We hung around near the whirlpool, which had a waterfall spilling over hot water!

Also, something to be aware of, there is no part of the pool where children can stand up at all, it is all quite deep.

I don't think you are supposed to use the towels from the room, but I don't really see how anyone would know, so long as you put them in a bag or something.

But the SL is lovely, we are staying there for a 3rd time in Feb. Have a great trip!!

Does Sequoia have laundry facilities? Do it yourself or send it out? We'll be arriving on day 11 of a 30 day trip and will need to do some laundry.

Sequoia doesnt but Cheyenne does which is just along the river. Theres nothing to stop you using these facilities

I agree - Im not sure how old your children are but we have often travelled with towels or bedding in bin bags in the footwell of the car. They dont tend to be in the way especially if the children are small enough that feet dont reach the ground anyhow and are squashable so can be stood on when getting in and out of the car.

We have a Chevrolet Matix which has a really small boot. We tend to take lots of snacks and dressing up clothes for the children. Our footwells and under the seats are well and truly crammed full. We also put the pushchairs in the footwells as they wont fit in the boot. Don't know what we are going to do when DS 4 and DD 6 get longer legs!!!
