DH and I have made numerous trips to WDW over the past few years. Our first was to AS Sports which he hated. Many years later i talked him into staying on property again and we went to WL...LOVED IT..... We have stayed there many times, the last being in Dec. We have a chance to go again in May on a post card rate and got POR for $79. Since I have the daily scooter rental of $40. I thought this would be a great compromise. We have never done a moderate yet I have seen the grounds or part of them. I would reall appreciate any comments you may have. I thought about POFQ but wanted the convenience of a sit down restaurant as well. Please tell me I did the right thing........Thanks so much. ::MickeyMo

You did the right thing. The theming is awesome and you picked a nice month to go there. I have lots of photos on my album to convince you!!

I think you did the right thing too. My DH and I love POR. We are planning our next vacation there already. We think it is awesome, the location is great, we love the atmosphere, you can't go wrong! Have a great time :earboy2:

The POR is a beautiful resort. You won't be disappointed. :)

I agree with you 100% on your resort assesments (we also hate AS Sport and love WL). We have many times stayed at POR (Dixie Landings to us) and it will always be one of our favorites. Actually, we only have 2 favorites, WL and POR (now that I think about it).

We have not yet stayed at an all-stars but did stay at the wilderness lodge. we decided to go to orlando last week in march and found most discounts to be gone, which means the wilderness lodge was a little too much.

after much reading, looking at pics and asking a few questions, we picked POR. It seems very nice and I like the idea of being able to take the boat to DD. We are very much looking forward to going.

Have fun on your trip!

You will love it, we have stayed at both Riverside and French Quarter and they both are our favorites. We will stay at French Quarter again in July. Enjoy your trip!!!

POR is wonderful. I am interested in reasons why you didn't like AS Sports though. Our family was thinking about staying at one of the low priced resorts in May. Having read your post, I'm now wondering if it's a bad idea.

I agreed with the OP about hating AS Sports. My reason is that we are 2 adults with no children. The resort is geared towards family. Way too much stimulation-between the 'sport icons' and all the kiddos. We did not care for the rooms-size, decor.... Just not our cup of tea.

POR is wonderful. SO BEAUTIFUL!!! We'd loved it there. Have since stayed in many deluxes but really want to go back to POR. Our next trip we got a good AP rate for POFQ, so we'll be close. I hope it's just as beautiful.

BTW - The scooters are $40.00, but $10.00 a day is a deposit. So the actual cost is only $30.00 per day. Saves you a little in the budget.

We just switched from POP to POR because we decided to take another underprivilaged girl along making 5 of us. I'm happy and all the extra work I'll have to do to pay for it will build character.
What are the scooters? My mom has a bit of trouble walking any suggestions as to room requests I could make to help her out a bit? How far are the buses and foodcourt from the AB?

POR is probably our favorite moderate resort. We love the theming and it always seems peaceful. At least until you get to the main swimming pool. Each time we are there, we usually see a family of rabbits out trimming the grass.

To clarify myprior post. We are a middle aged couple traveling with no kids and my hubby is not terribly into sports. We happened to have a handicapped king on the one time we were there. At that time Disney did not have the pitch figured correctly for the drain on the shower. One of us got up in the night to go potty and nearly had a bad fall as the floor was so slippery. All stars have since remedied this in newer values we are told.

A scooter is $30. in the parks after you get your $10. back, you are correct. My last visit, however, when we were arriving for the Christmas party they did not have enough. I have since that day called Walker Mobility and they deliver it right to your resort. I can come and go as I please and never have to worry about having used up a ticket only to find they are out of scooters. Walker's also use a bigger better battery and they have more power. My knee has never gotten better after my replacement surgery and without the scooter I cannot handle the parks. I would rather pay the diffference to know I am good to go....even to DTD under my own steam. By taking the moderate I hope to have the best on all fronts and be coming in at less than a night at my beloved Lodge. I have requested a close bldg so that I do not have to use the scooter all the time. Hope they come through for me.....
