Please help! I have an August contract with 25 banked and a December with 62 banked. Want to make a 44 point ressie in May and 46 point ressie in September, but can move that up to July (HHI) if necessary to get the best use of the points. How would you work this? I want to use up the banked points before they expire obviously and save as many of the current years as possible. thanks!

It would depend on the numbers of points needed for each night. Since the banked points cannot be transferred, you’re going to need to book the May reservation in two parts in such a way that it uses all 25 of the August contract’s banked points in one portion of the stay and then book a second reservation for the remainder of the stay using the December contract.

So as an example:
Lets say that the 44-point reservation takes 10 points for each of two weeknights and 12 points for each of two weekend nights. You could book 2 weekend nights using the August contract (24 banked points, you lose 1 point) then book 2 week nights using 20 points from the December contract. You are left with 42 banked points in the December contract, which you then use toward the 46-point September stay. You can call, chat with or email Member Services to ask them to link (NOT MERGE) the two reservations so that you do not need to change rooms at the end of the first reservation.

Of course, that’s only an example. How you use the points to make your reservations is highly dependent on how many points are needed for the individual nights in a reservation.

I used to have two contracts with two different use years. It was a PITB. Since they are different use years, you can only book in WHOLE DAYS for each contract. Unfortunately, you can't merge points from Contract A and Contract B to book a day. So, you're going to have to figure out which days to book with Contract A using the 25 banked points and enough current points to round out the last day that 25 points didn't cover and then do the same with Contract B.

Book the September trip with the 62...that leaves you 16. Now, the trick is to look at nightly costs for the May trip and see if any are 16...if they are, that works out perfect. This leaves you needing to only supplement the 25 with 3 to finish up the May trip.

Maybe give us the nightly costs and it may help to come with other ideas!

thanks all. i booked the may trip using both contracts and had them linked. lost 3 points that will expire but the only way around it would have been to stay at a higher point resort and we really want to stay at Poly for the first time ever. Now I will book the Sept HHI trip with the remainder and it will work out perfectly point wise.

SO if you have the same UY, you can merge the points at 7 months?

When you have one membership basically at 7 months points are points and you can book a trip with all of them. You would not need to merge because they act like one big pool of points.

During home resort is the only time you can’t. The only time you may have to merge is if you had to get nights at 7 months differently to add to a trip booked due to waitlists or when modifying didnot work. That is why staying with on UY, unless you want to use differently is easier
