I have ressies for the Poly for late August, I know I will love it I of course could sleep in a Disney parking lot and enjoy myself. LOL I just am worried my grandma and mother won't like it. Please tell me how wonderful it is, I saw the GF on travel channel and am confused now. I have showed them pictures and they seemed to like it . HELP

I should be happy I just got a great FL resident discount and even that didnt help

I will tell you we stayed at the Poly about 3 years ago. We absolutely loved it. We got to go, because my DH's compnay sent us on the trip. We were in the Tahiti building water view. I loved everything about the hotel. I loved the atmosphere, it was Disney, but it did not overpower you. It was just beautiful to walk the grounds at night with the torches lit. I loved the room. Two queen beds and a daybed. I can not say enough things about it. I would return there in a heart beat if I could afford it again. You will have a blast...I just know it. Good luck and enjoy! :)

I'm sure we could start a regular Poly vs. GF debate, but I prefer the Poly. The GF is beautiful, don't get me wrong - we had a wonderful stay there. But it's the Polynesian we keep going back to, and these are my reasons.

1) Theme - Although the GF is pretty, we just don't feel a real Disney theme like we do at the Polynesian. With the tiki torches, the piped in music, the friendly cast members Aloha-ing you whevever you go, you feel like you're in that Disney magic 24 hours a day.

2) Location - being within walking distance of the Transportation and Ticket Center is a huge advantage. We request the nearest builing to it and with it's path to the Epcot monorail, you really chop off some travel time and bother.

3) Pool - We just like the one at the Poly better. With its "erupting" volcano, again, more magic.

4) The rooms are huge. The rooms are more modern looking at the GF, but I would bet that the rooms at the Poly are some of the biggest at Disney.

and finally...

5) It's cheaper than the GF - at least that's been the case for me. I supposed that people have, on occasion, found a great rate at the GF, but on the whole, we find a better rate at the Poly. For instance, we just planned a relatively last minute trip and the Poly was the only resort I could get a Disney Club rate at. So, with reasons 1-4, we don't see a reason to pay more.

PMart,
I called to inquire about rates for late August and was given a total (including tax) of about 234 a night. This was an AP rate. Is the FL Res rate any better???? I didn't know there were FL Res rates out for that time. I have ressies for CBR in May and the CM told me the FL Res rates were not out yet.

I taped Great Hotels yesterday and DH and I watched it. The GF is beautiful, but I still would prefer the Beach Club or Poly. I think they really showcased all the high points of GF, but didn't really show what a typical family would do there. The 2 suites was really too much.

They are two different resorts but I agree that the transportation can not be beat. THe GF is the second best transportation but no other resort is right next to the Transportation and Ticket Center.

Check out my web pages for pictures and show them what it lookes like. If you are interested in some live video of the place, email me and I will see what I can do.

Thank You everyone for your replies I feel much better now.

Susy there is now a Fl code out through 8/24/02 and it gives a little better discount than the AP rate I saved about $75 for a 3 night stay, It is listed on mousesavers I didnt see it here on the DIS yet but it could be listed today

Tikiman your site is awesome just what I needed Thanks so much

The monorail is probably the best feature of all. It will get you to where you want to go quickly, from right inside your hotel.

(don't know if you have kids but) I have to say on behalf of my children they love the neverland club at the poly as well.

THANSK FOR THE HEADS UP ON THE CODE!!!!!

Just changed our ressies for May. Now I have CBR for 84.00 instead of 94.00!!! That's more like it!!!! We also have two rooms, with an extra adult in one room, so it all adds up. I see that the code gives you the Poly for 234.00. Well, that's the same price (including tax) that I was given for Aug 30-Sep1, with the AP, so it doesn't make a difference. thanks so much!! I think you will love the Poly. It will be our first time, if we make it. Steve's website really helped us to make our decision and the monorail is just a big bonus. We are really looking forward to eating at Kona and Ohana's as well!

Susy
Glad i could help, every little bit helps!
I had the Poly with AP for $230 (plus extra adult fee = $260)
With the new FL code I got Poly for $214 (plus extra adult = $229) so I figure I atleast got the money for the extra adult back, in my mind anyway. We will be at the Poly Aug 16-19 I can't wait.
