Hi there,
I have just booked 4 nights at POFQ for this November! We have never been there before and have only seen a few pictures here on the net. Please tell me everything about this resort!! What is the resturant and food court like? How long is the boat ride to downtown disney? What about the pool and playground? It will be myself DH and DS (9) going-- thanks in advance!

I love POFQ!

The main restaurant there isn't open any more, but the one at POR is, and it's a very short walk. We haven't eaten in the food court many times, but we've always been happy with it.

The ride to DD is nice. It's slow, but you won't mind because it's so scenic. It makes it really easy to go there when you're hungry or want to do a little shopping.

It's really easy to get to the bus stop because the resort is so small. It's nice walking around the resort, but it's also wonderful that you don't have to do it much. The buses are shared with POR, but they stop at POFQ first, so there's always room for you on the buses, and you always get off first. I think there are 4 stops at POR, but it doesn't take too long.

We were there in November of 1999 and it was great. Your son will love the dragon slide pool. The resort is small and quaint. There really isn't a bad location and its only a 10 minutes walk to POR so it's like getting two for the price of one. Because they're sister resorts you can use their pool too.

Kermit, We have stayed at PO-FQ before but never went down to Port Riverside. We are staying again in June. Since there is not a full service restaurant is FQ we will be heading down to Riverside. YOu said the walk is fairly short. About how far is it? Will my kids be ok walking down after a long day at the parks??

Grover,,, My kids loved PO-FQ. We have only been to disney one time and we stayed here. The pool is a vaction in its self. The food court is very close and so were the busses. We have never used the boat to DD, but are planning to this trip, everyone says it is nice. I am dissappointed though that the restauarnt has closed. We had a very nice late dinner there one night after we came back from the parks.. you wiill love the pool.... Corvair

We stayed there in July 2001 and loved it! I loved the smallness. The bus service was excellent. We were in a smoking building on the second floor/connecting rooms. Mousekeeping was wonderful. The kids couldn't wait to come back to the room to see what surprises were left for them. I will stay there again! But this July we are trying CBR.

We are also going to POFQ for the first time in November. Please tell me if there are shady areas at the pool, as I can't take too much sun.

I like ASMu, because I can usually hide in the shadow of a tree while standing in the pool.

The distance to the restaurant depends on what building you're staying in. I would guess that it would take about 5-10 minutes at a strolling pace, less if you walked faster. It shouldn't be too bad unless your kids are absolutely worn out.

One option, since the resorts share buses, is to catch the first bus that's making a stop at POR. (Ask the driver. Virtually all of them do, but occassionally they've been known to run different buses for the 2 resorts for busy parks during peak times.) But that might not save you too many footsteps, depending on the location of your room.

POFQ is a great resort. Its very small and everything is very close to your room. Its a very peaceful and relaxing resort, especially as its getting dark and the miniature streets are lit up. The boat ride to downtown disney is also very nice. Ive been there twice and stayed right along the water both times and its just very scenic. Plus your right next to Riverside, so you basically have the amenities of 2 resorts at your disposal.

Hey Bob-

If I remember correctly, there is a lot of shade around the 'Doubloon Lagoon' pool. Here's a link to a lot of POFQ
pictures. Our family won't stay anywhere else!

Enjoy your stay at POFQ! :jester:

I first stayed at FQ about 7 years ago before they gutted it of resort amenities and it's sad for me to see it now in comparison to what it was. All of this has been eliminated: the full-service restaurant, bikes, speed boats, and live entertainment at night.

I know FQ shares privileges with POR but it's still a mile walk to get there. It feels like a stripped-down resort to me in comparison to what it was. I know the reasons - the combined POR puts in on par with CBR and CS - but, once having experienced FQ with all those things it's hard now to see it without.

Having said all that, it would still be my moderate resort of choice during the summer. The resort is so small, it doesn't take long to get to the food court from anywhere. And, it's still beautiful at night, with the street lamps lit.

Hear Hear, Gabrielle! I share your sentiments.
I'll miss the breakfasts our family had at Bonfamilles before we headed out to the parks. We always tried to sit at a table next to that delightful little courtyard.
Memeres French Toast will always have a special place in my heart! :(
