Please tell me all about the TTC

I think I used it once back in 1985. Nowadays I use the Disney buses, but for this trip next week, I have a car since I have my sister's family with me.
We are staying at Beach Club Villas and I hear the buses from there can be quite an ordeal since the stop at multiple resorts so I think we'll be using the car quite a lot.

The kids want to ride the ferry or monorail to MK (and DBIL isn't a big fan of crowded buses) so I figured we may end up at the TTC and I haven't a clue how it works.

My DBIL has a bum leg and will be bringing his state issued handicap placard for parking. I have heard that at the TTC this may not be a smart move because of the distance invovled in walking to the TTC after parking in the blue stalls.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You can think of Transportation & Ticket Center as simply the parking lot concourse and tram station for Magic Kingdom. All guests who drive "to MK" will park at TTC and then use the monorail or ferry to get to MK itself. The part about drive from the toll booth and park the car (pahk the cah for you Massachusetts folks) and take the tram and get off at the concourse works the same as for Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios. There are ticket booths at TTC where you can get any kind of ticket you could normally get at the parks.

If you take the MK resort buses, you are dropped off directly at MK. You can still take a joyride on the monorail or ferry from there and you end up at TTC. If you wish to you can immediately make it into a round trip back to MK. And you can pretend it is all part of going to MK.

You may find a "public" wheelchair at the handicapped parking section for DBIL to ride. Trams do not stop there. If you park in the regular spaces the trams won't stop for you to grab a public wheelchair which is for use only between the concourse and the parking sections.

Most buses to & from MK stop only at YC & BC. The exceptions are early breakfast buses to MK, and buses back to the resort in the a.m.

Most buses to BB/AK in the a.m. also stop only at YC & BC. Buses to BB/AK after 11 a.m., and buses back to the resort from BB/AK all day, generally stop at all 5 resorts in this order: Swan, Dolphin, YC, BC, BW.

Buses to & from DTD/TL usually stop at all 5 resorts.

Of course, service to & from Epcot & DHS is by Friendship Boats. The boats make one additional stop on the way to each park from YC & BC.

TTC handicapped parking can be quite a long walk, as there may or may not be a public use wheelchair hanging around to be used. If your brother in law can handle the climb into and out of the tram, you may do better taking your chances there on hoping to park at the tram end of the parking lot.

My mom is in her 60s and doesn't have the best mobility. At the TTC, she said she would rather park with the general public and take the tram (walk to the tram, up into the tram, back out of the tram at TTC) than park in the AAA lot next to the handicapped lot and walk (to the end of the lot, down under the little bridge, up to the bus stops). As someone who decided in May on the day my feet were killing me to follow her logic, I wound up parked 2 spots in from the far end of the lot-it's all luck.

We always stay on property, and we always drive everywhere, unless portions of our group are coming or going at different times. At the end of a long day, 1) everyone gets a seat, 2) the AC always works, 3) we can leave when we're ready. For my mom in particular, she'd take "hiking" from the AAA lot over standing on a crowded bus any day.

If you have a handicapped permit you can use regular parking and ask the attendant at the tram end to let you commence a new row instead of follow the line of cars down the aisle away from the tram. You would just do a little loop the loop at the tram end to accomplish this. The only restriction is that cannot bring a scooter or non-folding wheelchair on board the tram.

This would apply at any park.
