Hi, I'm new here. We are staying at the HRH 5/28-5/30 and I would love to hear all about it. No detail is too small. Of course I will also read all that is already available on this forum.

We are five, me, dh, ds14, ds12, & ds4. We have reserved a standard queen with a rollaway bed for the 4 year old. I am a member of Loews First (we have stayed at the RPH before ~ what a gorgeous view we had of IOA!) We purchased the $85 internet special tickets.

A few questions off the top of my head:
Can you walk to US from the HRH?
Are there any counter service restaurants in the hotel?
Has anyone who is a non-platimum member of L1st ever gotten an upgrade?
Any preferred rooms? Do they even take requests?
How late is the pool open?
What's your favorite thing about the resort?

Thanks in advance. Can't wait to read your responses. :surfweb:

Yes it is about 5 minutes

Are there any counter service restaurants in the hotel?
There is pool service and Emack and Bolios which sells ice cream, coffee and snacks

Has anyone who is a non-platimum member of L1st ever gotten an upgrade?
Many people have. Mostly when they went at non peak times and checked in early.

Any preferred rooms? Do they even take requests?
You can always request a room. I find them to all be about the same
How late is the pool open?
I think it is open until 11 pm
What's your favorite thing about the resort?
I love the coolness of the hotel and its proximity to the parks.

the kids loved HRH the best out of all 3 though PBH is my favorite. for HRH, the thing i like best is it is always warm enough to swim. you would think, at the same location just different hotels but to me the sun always shines brighter over at HRH. be careful though as the pool is completely uncovered so you can get sunburned if you are not careful. the pool is huge. for me i do not like that it doesn't have deep sections but have to admit that the kids loved it and it made keeping and eye on them and playing with them easy. the staff at HRH's pool is the most attentive i have encountered on property. they will even come and find you in the pool. your kids will also think the music piped underwater is cool. the rooms are nice. i liked that there was a mirror and sink in the bathroom as well as out. made getting ready in the AM a little easier. i wasn't a big fan of emack & bolios but the food at the pool is great. the kitchen also has a really nice breakfast buffet. the walk to the parks.....the best walk on property in my opinion. very close. we rarely take the shuttle when we stay at HRH. hope that helps. check out my trip report to HRH below for more info. HAVE FUN!

Is there a Starbucks in the hotel? And has anyone eaten at the restaurants there? We only ate at Emack and Bolio's while we were there last but I'm thinking of spending more time hanging out the hotel when we go next month.

Can you walk to US from the HRH?yes, there is a short cut way if you don't want to take the regular walk around the hotel along side the canal. go out the front door and walk thru the employee parking lot on the left. stay on that sidewalk to where it empties out at the studios area. this sidewalk merges with the regular side walk.
Are there any counter service restaurants in the hotel?
Has anyone who is a non-platimum member of L1st ever gotten an upgrade?i have been forturnate to be upgraded every stay there when i was at blue loews first card from garden to pool view. also upgraded to queen deluxe on blue but the hotel was not crowded at that time. also upgraded on gold and platinum levels. blue upgrade is not always going to happen though. i was lucky
Any preferred rooms? Do they even take requests? you can request an upper floor level at no extra charge.
How late is the pool open?depends when you go. in october when i go, the pool closed by 11 on weekends except on dive in movie night.
What's your favorite thing about the resort? how long do you have to listen to me? i can go on about this. i love hrh

The Beach Club serves food at the pool. Emack and Bolio's is now also a Starbucks. Easy to pick up a quick snack or breakfast. You can also order pizza to your room through Star Service. The kids liked it and it was reasonably priced.

We used our LoewsFirst Gold and got an upgrade from Standard to Deluxe when I made the reservation. This was absolute peak season - the hotel was sold out when we arrived. We used a AAA discount to get the rate on the room also.

What's your favorite thing about the resort?

I love the lobby, the staff and absolutely the proximity to the parks! We had a great time at the pool!

I'm still blue; well, this trip will bump me up to gold. All the queen deluxes are gone, I tried to book one, so I won't look forward to anything, but should I ask when I check in? Also, does anyone know if the resort will help arrange anything special for a birthday? My son turns 14 the day we arrive.
Thanks

Thanks for all the info macraven; I will add an upper floor room to my ressie.

you can order a cake in advance for your son's birthday.
it's not free, it would be on your nickel.

i have not had luck on anything special for a birthday unless i paid for it.
why don't you call the hotel a week in advance and ask them if anything special can be done by the hotel for the bd boy. policies change and maybe there will be a perk involved. i last was at UO last october.

by all means, inquire when you check in about availability for a queen deluxe.
you never know if there is a cancellation. try to arrive early so if there is a cancellation, you will be there to grab it.
on the blue card, you might have to pay to have that upgrade, but then, maybe they won't charge for it. it's a hit or miss thing.

the upgrade for suites from a garden on blue is to have a $35 charge but i had it waived by the check in clerk before.

it kind of depends who checks you in and if the hotel has availability.

wishing your family mummy dust for a great stay there.
and an early hb to your son.

you never know what you can get until you ask for it at hrh.

I don't mind paying, but it would be fun if they had something cool since it is the HR. I can't imagine what though  He plays the bass and I guess something like happy birthday ballons with Hard Rock Hotel picks attached would be cool. I'll call the hotel like you suggested.
Thanks again.

someone on the uo threads mentioned they had a child's birthday but don't remember which hotel they stayed at on site.

they got a lot of attention and the birthday child was wearing a special hat that caught a lot of the employees eye. believe they might have received some special "perks" to help celebrate the occassion.

yes, at the hrh they will provide you with balloons and small do dad type of items.

when you check in, you can request turn down service.
each night a chocolate and trinket will be left on each pillow. the covers are turned down, the lights are put on low and soft music will be on.

it's a nice touch and the kids might get a kick out of it.
the trinkets vary, i still have all of mine.

not sure if you are aware of this but as a loews member, you are entitled to use the gym facilities at no charge.

you also get the choice of one of two daily papers delivered to your room each morning.

you can pool hop to the other two hotel pools since you are staying on site.
