Please tell me about your honeymoon...

We went to a hotel downtown for our wedding night. Ate breakfast there, went back to my parents house for lunch and we opened gifts with both sets of parents and several other family members/friends. I exchanged a few things that afternoon cause we left that night (sunday) for Florida for 6 days at Disney World! My inaugural visit! We agreed on where to go, but I was nervous about spending so much money and tried to talk DH into the Caribbean Beach Resort. He held his ground and we stayed at the WL. As soon as we returned to California, he had to go back up to Oregon (where he already lived) to go back to work...I moved up 36 hours later (we opened the gifts before our honeymoon cause my wonderful Mom took on the task of returning duplicates and getting us what we didn't get or still wanted....)..

We went to Hawaii. We spent our wedding night at the airport Hotel and then left on an early flight the next day. Did 5 nights in Kauia and 6 in Maui. It was heavenly and very relaxing. We new we wanted a beach/relax do nothing type of honeymoon and our choice was caribbean islands versus Hawaii. The deciding factor for us was that it really was no more expensive to go to Hawaii and since we had almost 2 weeks total to travel it was worth the trip to Hawaii (from the east coast). We figured it would be easier to go to the caribbean when we had less time.

Our wedding day didn't end until about 1am, then we drove an hour back to our apartment, where we spent our wedding night. We thought it was foolish to spend any extra money on a hotel when we lived five minutes from the airport. Besides, we lived in Huntsville, Alabama, not any 4-star hotels there anyway. (Looking back, we should have stayed at the Hilton downtown that night, we had gotten engaged there, but it was about 30 minutes from the airport and not really that nice.)

We left at 9am the next morning (Sunday), checked into the AKL at WDW at 3pm, and stayed there until Thursday morning, drove over to the Royal Pacific Resort at Universal and stayed there until Sunday night at 7pm, then back to Huntsville and our jobs the next day..

We were married on a Saturday evening and spent the night at the airport Marriott. We left for Hawaii on Sunday morning. We stayed for 11 days. 2 days were for travel. We did all of the cheesy tourist attractions. My favorite was bike riding and having breakfast in a small restaurant full of locals.

I wanted Hawaii, DH wanted a cruise. He convinced me by saying we could do WDW too if we did a cruise. I only agreed if we could stay at the Polynesian. After almost 9 years of marriage Im learning DH is just as much of a Disney Freak as I am but he tries to hide it and make it look like its me. That is one of example of how he works around it, LOL!

We had a Saturday night wedding and stayed at a local hotel that night(Sun morning, really) and Sunday night. Early Mon morning we flew to FL and embarked on a 4 night cruise on the Big Red Boat. It rained for most of the cruise. We then spent Fri-Wed at WDW, where we were hit by Hurricane Erin on our last night. :D

My only regret about the honeymoon is that I really didnt have a clue of what to do. I wasnt the psychotic planner than I am now. We still had a great time but I think we could have gotten a lot more out of it if I had planned.

We went on a 7 day cruise to the Western Carribbean on the Carnival Destiny. We flew out of Boston to Miami at 6am the day after the wedding. :D

We got married early on a Saturday (10 or 11 am wedding/lunchtime reception)

Everything, reception, wedding, etc., was all done by 5 pm.

We did our show that night (perfect for the wedding scene in the show)..

Then after that (Sunday).. we took a break. Monday to Thursday we went to Washington DC .

My honeymoon was a wedding gift of a night at the local holiday inn. That was it.

That's more than I got....:o

We got married in Penna. in December.... need I say more??:(

A very bad snowstorm blew in - TONS of snow..... over 100 out-of-town/state guests could not make it in. We were supposed to go skiing - and WE couldn't make it there because of the weather..... DH frantically tried to get reservations at a hotel about 50 miles away - roads were still too bad and it took us over 1 hour to just get to our house from the reception - and it was less than 10 miles away....

DH has made up for our lack of a honeymoon many times over by taking me on lots of trips.

Well, Ms. Boo, my honeymoon was not to interesting in the story on how it was picked. We were going to rent a cabin in Ohio and see the fall leaves change and all that, but I would have had to put 1/2 the stay down immediately. I wasn't so keen on that. So I looked at WDW... somehow got Luis to agree to go AND to stay at the Polynesian. We went for a week and left the morning after our wedding, staying at an airport hotel over night.

We got married in 1986. We went to Hawaii for 3 glorious weeks. :) Spent 1 week on Oahu, the other 2 on Maui. We left the day after we got married.

I've been wanting to go back ever since, but that long flight has kept me from going. When we go back, which won't be until my kids are pre-teen/teens, we will break the flight up into 2 trips, layover in California for a few days, then on to Hawaii.

We went to Caneel Bay on St. John in the Virgin Islands. Very posh resort, absolutely gorgeous. We had a great time. (And are now divorced, not that the honeymoon had anything to do with that! :) ) I don't remember there being any controversy on where we were going to go; I let my ex plan it, it didn't matter to me where it was as long as it was warm. We left the day after our wedding, stayed for a week. (January wedding.)

Our honeymoon in 1997 was 10 glorious days at the Wilderness Lodge in WDW. We had the time of our lives!

DD and her soon husband to be are spending 10 days in Cancun.

We never had a honeymoon, but in 2000 my Husband made up for it by taking me to WDW, and we have been going ever since.
Woo Hoo!! :hyper: :teeth:

We went to Disney for 10 days and stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We left early the day after our wedding. Although we were very tired, we slept the whole way down (my husband still jokes about how upset he is that we missed our snacks on the plane because we were sleeping), and it was nice to just get there and have a nice relaxing first day at Disney.

Went to Disney World the day after our wedding, stayed at Sheraton World on International Drive, had a big fight the first day so I should of know he was not for me we are now divorced, YEAH, these are now the best yrs of my life

We went on a four-day Royal Caribbean cruise, leaving the day after our reception. It would have been longer, but we had to be back for another wedding the week after ours.

Now boo, if you are looking for dirty stories, I have told you, this is not the way to go about it.

Ward and I went to a nice hotel, and played golf.
:earseek: Is that why Ethel was asking?;)

Mr. Tank needs to tak you on another honeymoon, Tank Girl. How about WDW?:teeth:

our honeymoon was spent at WDW as well! we flew down on Monday, sept 9, checked in to the ASMu for 7 nights, and were then married at a small wedding chapel in kissimmee on tuesday, sept 10. it was amazing...just the two of us! kind of like eloping!

We went on a Carnival Cruise. We had to be up at 4 am the day after our wedding to make our 6:30 am flight. We had an hour layover somewhere. Then took a bus to the ship. We got to the ship, got our stateroom assignment and found out that the "upgrade" I was supposed to get thru the travel agency didn't happen. We were in the belly of the ship about 5 rooms from the front of the boat. Then I couldn't find the suitcase keys (they were on my bed at home). We tried everything to get the suitcases open. Wanted to put our contacts in and change clothes. Alas, we went up on deck in glasses and travel clothes to see the ship put out to sea.

I remember being exhausted and irritated at this point. We did get a steward to bring some heavy duty pliers to cut off our locks.

Our entire honeymoon I was either FREEZING from the a/c or BURNING hot from the sun. Don't cruise the Caribbean in August. We never did figure out how to completely shut down the a/c in our stateroom. We slept in layers and layers of our clothes to stay warm.

Dh wore a patch for seasickness and it made him feel yucky the entire time. It wasn't the most romantic event of our lives. I wouldn't do it again.

We went to Florida & WDW for the first time 9 months later and stayed at Dixie Landings. It was a much better vacation and we ended it with a couple days on the beach in Daytona. Much more relaxing and enjoyable.

Wow, that turned out to be rather long didn't it???!

;)

Yes, I guess golf was not very romantic Shannon:o , but LOL, he has taken me many nice places since....including WDW....and he'e taking me and the little Polish Princess back there in May.;) :)

But to answer your question, yes, that is why Ethel asked....:teeth:
