We have switched our Christmas / New Year ressie from OKW to a 1 bed at VWL. We love OKW but thought VWL would be more festive can anyone give us some hints and tips for this resort

We love VWL - it is small so not a long walk anywhere. I have never been there at Christmas but the Boards claim it is the prettiest during the holiday season. You will love it.

We love the WL at Christmas. If you have the chance, take some time to relax in the lobby after a long day in the parks. Maybe a "to-go" cocktail. Find a comfy chair, listen to the background music and soak in the atmosphere. We love the Christmas season and this place is perfect.

Have you been to WL, or VWL? The tree in the lobby of the WL is large, stunning and decorated just to fit the theme, the Pacific NW. The VWL has another gorgeous tree in it's lobby.

I've never been between Christmas and NY, but before Christmas there is a schedule of local performers, like bell choirs that perform in the WL lobby. This schedule wasn't just given with our check-in things, I had to ask. So, ask at check-in.

I like to take boats, take a boat to the Contemporary, look at it's decorations then take the monorail to the Poly if you like, but really go to the GF! The gingerbread house and tree there is amazing. Disney Photo pass people were there to take pictures. I didn't notice any at WL, but that could just be something I overlooked.

The villa's main floor has lots of comfy sofas, a gathering room called The Iron Spike Room that has memoribilia of Walt's model trains, and there are tables that have built in games, like checkers. VWL is laid back, but it doesn't feel like Jimmy Buffet, like OKW does. The WL's lobby is bustling with activity, there's even a spring with a bridge to cross over, and wonderful carvings of creatures, there are some critters in VWL's lobby as well.

VWL is a great place to stay. Bike rentals (boats, too) are available on the lake behind the quiet pool (Hidden Springs). You can walk, run, or bike over to FW for exercise or to just enjoy the moment. If you like equine sports, there are small ponies for small kids to ride and horses for adults and older kids there at FW. Make sure you get an ADR to Artist Point, try to go later for an even more peaceful meal, request a window seat, and watch the geyser blow its top on the hour. Go to the concierge desk and request a Hidden Mickeys sheet. Marvel in the architecture and revel in the music and sounds of both WL and the Villas. Relax with a glass of wine or your favorite beverage by the huge fireplace in the main lobby or the smaller one in the Villas' lobby. Though SSR is our technical home, VWL feels like home to us. Enjoy! :thumbsup2
