Would you recommend it for a family with young children, ages 5, 3 and 8months? How are the pools? clean, bug free rooms? (I have a bug phobia! especially in Florida! ) Please tell me anything you can about this place! the fact that we could get it very cheap on Skyauction seems to good to be true. Is it kind of outdated decor? Anything negative?
Thankyou!

Go to http://www.sunterra.com/ and enter the site. They have some info on the updates they are doing at the Poly Isl. This resort was hit a little hard by the hurricanes and they were then doing a renova. of the whole resort. I am a Sunterra Silver Elite( lots of points...) and can not get a ress. at ANY resort for the next 2-3 months! I have stayed there and it does have the smallest rooms of all the Sunterra resorts in Orlando. But this is still a lot larger then a hotel. We put friends up there at the Poly. Isl last Dec 17 to the 24,and they told us they loved it. We liked it a lot. Not to hard to get to the parks. Smallish resort, nice to walk around in.
http://secure.sunterra.com/US/rs-l3.aspx?resort=PIRbut This web site should have photos of the place, if you can get there from here. Best of luck.

Humm, not sure, but on anothe thread someone had been there a few months ago and they said it was outside. Between 2 units. I know of 2 other Sunterra resorts that does it this way, and have stayed at them and not had any problems... Sorry, I just don't knpw! The site should say, so I will try and check it for you.

OK, just went to the site, and it says there are laundry fac. on site. But it also says they are in the room. I am not sure if that is correct, cause they might mean it is available, but shared with another unit. I will ask when I call the company and try to get ressies for may... hahhahehah! I have called every day for the last 6 days... no luck! And at this point I would take any place down there! I am going , but need another 3 bedroom. The Poly Isl only has 1 and 2 bed rooms, but I would take one of each or even a mix at this point. So if I get any info I will post tomorrow. I won't be calling again tonight, but about 9am EST tomorrow. The operators might not know, they are in Las Vegas making the ressies for all the resorts, worldwid. Will try.

thanks for all you "phone/leg work" idofabric

too bad you could not get something at the Embassy Grand Beach which is run by sunterra now i think ( but they were downgraded by RCI from Gold Crown ) ...we were there in a three bedroom in January/February

nice resort but staff in some areas, left a bad impression

have a feeling that Sunterra and RCI do not see "eye to eye"......for some reason...

We stayed in a 2BR at Sunterra PI in January of 2003. It was my parents, DH and I and DS. PLENTY of room for all of us. We were in a 2nd floor unit. There was a washer/dryer stack in a closet outside the unit. So if you are sharing, you are only sharing with one other unit, and it is literally 2 steps.

Access to the parks is a snap!

We quite enjoyed our week here, and would not hesitate to go back.

Polynesian Isles is the resort we bought into back in 1990. We've been back there numerous times. They are doing a complete rehab on the place, I know they dinged us big time $$$ for hurricane repair costs...it had better be a nice rehab is all I can say! :rolleyes1

We have ressies there for 2 weeks next spring and are very excited about going back. I love the peacefulness of the smaller resort and the pool in the "newer" side of the resort (early 90's) has a wonderful cabana feel about it.

If you can get it, I'd say to go for it!
