please tell me about the GF spa

My DH and I went there twice on our HM last Sept. Once we went for the couple's massage, which was nice but over too fast and it was included in our romance package, I don't know how much $ it actually cost. A couple days later we went back and I got my nails done- the wedding french manicure had disappeared. The girl SQUARED my ROUND nails without asking and the nail polish lasted about 2 days max. I was very disappointed here, because it cost around $50. I think that the place itself is pretty nice and most of the people were very nice and asking if they could get us anything. I think that I just had bad luck with the nail girl that I had that day. We stayed at the GF and it was nice to walk there.

Hi,

Here's what I thought when I went to the spa. I'm planning on going again in 2 weeks when we return to DW in spite of what I am about to tell you.

I went to the spa at the GF in 2000 and haven't been back to the spa since. I got the massage, facial, manicure and pedicure. What I found was that for all the money I paid, I felt rushed and unpampered. The checkin was OK but again, I felt rushed and told to sit in the lobby area where I waited about 10 minutes before my first treatment.

I rec'd my massage first. $140 for a 50 minute massage is ludicris as are all the prices for treatments at the GF. At home, I go to the spa every other month and pay about 1/2 the price. Anyway, the girl I had for the massage was OK. She was a bit inexperienced and I felt like she talking mallats to my back as she massaged even after I told her to lighten it up a bit. The environment in the room was soothing with the lights dimmed and nice music on but none-the less, the massage felt very rushed. There were a couple of times she left me in the room alone while she went to check her schedule!!!

During my facial, again, rushed. I felt like all the attendants were more interested in checking thier schedules and thier watches rather than taking care of clients.

My mani/pedi were well done but the girl was so busy waiting for her next client that she didn't even give my nails enough time to dry. Needless to say, after I paid and went back to my hotel which was the Poly, only a short walk away, my nails were already ruined!!

OK, that said. There were a few things I did not mention at the beginning of my spa day that I should've mentioned. (But didn't know at the time)

1. Ask for an experienced therapist. I kinda just left it up to luck asto who I would be assigned to.
2. Make sure you tell your therapist that you are sensative to lots of pressure to take it easy or, tell her that you would like more pressure. Again, it was my first massage there and I just kept my mouth shut despite the pain from the massage.
3. You're paying a ton of money for these treatments so you have every right to get every minutes worth. Tell your therapist that you would like no interruptions and to make sure not to "cut it short' as some will do to make room for the next client. At GF Spa, they are very attuned to making time and room for the next client and have to clean their own rooms so, you may just be the one who gets "cut short" a few minutes
4. Take time to let your nails dry. Again, you are there for a service and are paying top dollar for that service. Use the nail drying and don't let them rush you out of there.

That's the best advice I can give you. Being a seasoned "Spa" goer now, I am returning to the GF Spa on the 27th of Sept and the 3 of October. I'll bring a report back then. I plan to enjoy every minute of my stay and enjoy time at the spa. Take advantage of the robes and other "niceties" there.

Enjoy and hope this helped.

My dds and I went to the GF spa this past July. I didn't find it rushed and everyone was very nice. I had both a massage (long one) and facial and dds had My first facial and my first manicure. They loved it.

I posted a couple of months ago about a bad experience with the GF spa. Several months after I returned from WDW, I noticed a charge on my American Express Card from the GF Spa. As I wasn't there on the date fo the transaction, nor had I been for several months prior, I disputed the charge and it was adjudicated in my favor. However, this seems to me that the GF Spa retains charge account numbers and that someone there accessed and used my number fraudently. So my word to the wise is if you go there pay cash.

My daughter and I went to the spa for facials this past Christmas week. We both had a great time, but spent too much money on products after the facial!

It's an OK spa. If you are used to Canyon Ranch or Willow Stream, you're probably going to be disappointed. If you've never been to a high end spa before, you'll love it. IMHO the staff turnover there lately has caused it to suffer. I do LOVE the jurlique product line they use.
