We are excited about visiting SW during summer nights. We have one 13 yr DS. We love theme parks at night especially during the June months. Is everything open? Shows, Dining etc. Tell me what is best about summer nights. Our vacation is from 6/20-6/28 SW and WDW. Staying at a DTD resort.
Seaworld's summer nights start on June 21st. So make sure you don't go on June 20th or you'll miss it! This year, there is a brand new Shamu show that will be only performed at night. The night show is different than the day Shamu show and is usually more like a rock n roll atmosphere. Infact, this show will be performed for the very first time ever on the night of June 21st. So if you go the 21st, then you will be the first to see the new show. The show is called "Shamu Celebration: Light Up The Night" There is usually some sort of a fireworks show sometime at night. Last year, Seaworld tied the firework show into the old Shamu night show maybe they will do that again for this new show, but details for the new show haven't been released yet.
There is also a night time Sealion show which is different than the daytime sealion show. The night time Sealion show is a spoof of the shows in the park. So if you don't see any of the shows during the day (Dolphin Show "Blue Horizons", Dog and Cat show "Pets Ahoy", Acrobat show "A'lure", and Daytime Shamu show "One Ocean") then the night time Sealion show will be very difficult for you to follow or understand.
There is also a DJ and dance party near the exit of the park where you can hang out for a little while after park close. All the rides and exhibits (Except Dolphin feeding) and most restaurants are usually open all night until park close.
I want to caution you though, summer time in Florida = Thunderstorms. And storms with lightning = cancelled shows/closed rides and closed exhibits until the storm passes. I would have a plan in place for thunderstorms. Since its summer it will most likely rain every single day. Sometimes for no more than 10 minutes, and sometimes it rains for hours. If you have the opportunity to do two days at Seaworld, I would do that. The first day, get there at rope drop and do all the shows, exhibits and rides you want to do. Then leave as the thunderstorms start rolling in around 3 or 4:00. The next day get to the park around 5 or 6 after the storms pass and enjoy all the summer nights fun until park close. Or when the thunderstorms arrive, you could hang out at a restaurant or exhibit until the storm passes. A lot of people leave after the storms come through so if you wait it out, you will have a pretty empty park to enjoy rides with little wait time. Don't let the storms ruin your fun! Hope you have a great time!
