We have booked our trip for October, staying at CBR. We are fans of CBR, but we'd like to stay at a variety of places. I noticed that a Deluxe Villa at SSR is not above our budget for this upcoming trip, but I'd love a little more information, specifically....

1) How would you describe the bus service? We'll be flying and needing to use Disney transportation. Keep in mind that we've stayed at all of the values and nearly all of the moderates, so we won't be shocked by the idea of waiting for a bus, but generally speaking were you more or less satisfied with your bus transportation at SSR?

2) Pool? We have 2 little girls, ages 4 and 7, who are avid swimmers and huge fans of the resort pools we've stayed in previously. The pictures I've seen of the main pool seem pretty sedate, which seems lovely, with the exception that I'm bringing two kids and a DH for whom "cannonball" is the best dive in their repertoire ;).... Is there a slide? How's the splash feature (as seen on resort photos)?

3) Location? As I've said, we've stayed at WDW resorts that are plenty spread out, so we anticipate that this is also a large resort where building proximity is pretty widespread. That said, are the buildings with Deluxe Villas in a specific "village" of SSR? Is there a specific "village" we should request -- we'll be going to and from the parks in both the mornings and late afternoons, so ideally something near-ish a bus stop.

TIA!

SSR is a DVC resort. It is large and spread out. There are several different size villas from studios, one bdrm, two bdrm and grand villas. They are also in each section. Which section to choose depends on your preferences. If you want near the main pool springs section or grandstand if you want near the new paddock pool then you want passivity section. If you want close to DTD then congress park is for you. Being a DVC, you will not get daily housekeeping unless you request and pay for it. For stays 7 or less nights you will get trash and towel service on the 4th day. For longer stays you get a full cleaning on day 4 then trash and towel on day 8. The main pool does have a slide and the paddock pool also has a slide and water splash area for kids. Buses are great but be aware there are 5 stops in the resort. There is also a boat that goes to DTD.

We had no complaints at all and we were there from 12/21 to 12/22. Went to all the parks, with my DM in a wheelchair, and never had to wait for a second bus due to space issues. Never waited more than 15 minutes for a bus. However, the people that were at the last stop (I don't remember which it was) were always having to wait for a second bus because the bus was full. We have stayed in both Congress Park and The Springs sections during december (once for Christmas and once earlier in December for the MVMCP).

The pool was OK. My DD loved the slide and loved the movies that they showed at night. She thought it was really cool to float in the pool while watching a movie. BUT I think the pool has been remodeled in the last couple of years so it may have changed since we were there -- that could only make it better right?

I would recommend staying in The Springs section as it is close to the main building and bus stop. Each section has all of the different room types.

We haven't been there yet but will be going in September. There are 2 pools with slides, one has a little kids slide, and a kiddie section with slides. Go to youtube and watch a video of the the two pools/slides. There are several videos that make the pool/slides/kiddie areas look like a lot of fun. Good luck. The two feature pools are High Rock Springs (I think) and the Paddock Pool.

If you are not staying on DVC points you will get regular mousekeeping service everyday. Thats one of the reasons I don't want to join DVC -- I like coming back to a clean room every night.

We're DVC members and SSR is our 'home' resort. We love this resort. The Turf club restaurant is one of the best and most reasonably priced restaurants at WDW. The boat to DTD is a great plus. The resort has a quiet, calm feel and the new pool is fabulous. Try this link to see some photos and info; http://allears.net/acc/g_ss.htm

We didn't like SSR or OKW because there are too many bus stops within the resort. The bus stops at multiple stops in the resort before going to the park. I didn't like the "apartment/timeshare" feel of the resort. We were booked to stay here and I burst into tears when we pulled in and my DS said "are we still in WDW? We switched to Kidani.

A lot of people love the size of the rooms and the themes too. Don't let me sway you. Just wished that I'd asked some questions before booking.

I stayed at SSR about a year ago. I will echo what PP have said: it is a very spread out resort. The pool is nice, I was a bit disappointed at how shallow it was. The hot spas were fabulous!
I was in Congress section, I'm sorry but I don't know about other parts.
Bus service was OK--neither bad nor stellar. As others have said in other threads, bus service can be ANYTHING at ANY resort and each and every day/week can be different.

This was one thing I was interested in hearing and neglected to ask. We've stayed at OKW, as well, and SSR seems quite subdued in its Disney theming, which is great and very appealing to many, many guests (notably my DH!) but my kids are little and they LOVE the obvious Disney theming at the hotels.

Thanks so much for all of this advice! The SSR looks beautiful! I'm not sure what my problem is....I'm having a hard time getting excited about CBR, even though we've enjoyed it during past trips. The family was a bit bummed that we could not stay at POFQ, which we all adore.

It's a Disney vacation! It will be great, as soon as I figure out where we want to stay ;)

We own at SSR. We love the resort. Its spread out which we like but its not hard to get back to the Carriage house or to pools etc.

The quiet polls are nice and have food at some of them and nice areas for kids. The artists pallet has alot of nice food choices and the turf club is a nice place to hang out or eat ffter a long day at the parks if you want to just hang out later on.

Their are a few bus stops but they run quick and don't get too crowded except for maybe the end of the night coming home when everyone is on them.

It is close to DTD and easy to get there by bus or walking or by boat. You might want to try the boat as your kids will probably enjoy that.
