These fares are SOOOO much cheaper than all the rest (from LaGuardia to MCO). Are the planes OK? No electrical tape holding them together? Want to book TONIGHT!

TIA!!

flew a few times from Atlantic City on Spirit. No problems. nothing fancy but they have a fine safety record.

I understand they are privately owned and have been in existance for 23 years. Judy and I have tickets for July on them. Everything I have heard about them is good.

I have heard great things from them from many of my clients, and i actually changed my flight to them because they have great rates and i have heard great things

We flew Spirit to Atlantic City and it is actually the best low cost airline we've ever flown. Friendly staff, clean nice planes and if you get there early enough, they offer 1st class seating upon availability for $40. We paid the extra to Atlantic City which made for a very nice flight. But rode regular on the way home and was just as nice.

Quoted unbelievably cheap fare of $69 pp each way from LaGuardia for a grand total (including taxes and fees) of $656.84 for my family of 4! Yippeeee! I never thought I'd find rates this good this far in advance (and was afraid of waiting for a last minute summer sale). That was directly through spiritair.com. Travelocity was a little more.

I have used them out of Atlantic City. No problems, other than they didn't have extra planes in case of mechanical problems. So you sometimes got stuck waiting for the plane to be worked on. But that may have changed. They just made a deal to get a lot of money from a capital firm and plan to expand greatly, perhaps becoming one of the biggies in 5-10 years.

Although the safety record is OK Spirit does buy OLD aircraft that other airlines are selling. Combine that with the shortage of backup aircraft and you could have some delays.

iloveeeyore, I too just booked them LGA -MCO $69 each way. I was also wondering about them. So far a few have told me good things. I'll know for myself comes august.

We have flown Spirit out of Atlantic City for the last 5 trips to Florida and had no problems. Yes, there is delays if the plane is late or mechanical delays, but nothing more than 90 minutes or so! For July I also got the 66.00 fare and for the 4 of us it was 590.00 with fees and the other stuff they tack on!!

Our family is flying out of Atlantic City in Aug on Spirit, never used them before. We just couldn't see paying USAir's ridiculous rates and were too afraid to wait until Southwest started their flights out of Philadelphia, so Spirit it is. We do have to call 90 days before flight to get a seat assignment though, I wish I could get this info when we book, but if that is my only complaint, then I am doing just fine!

I flew on Spirit for the first time in Dec. All went smoothly, except at the checkin desk at MCO. I waited in line for 50 minutes to check in! Luckily I had arrived early at the airport, but some other people in the line were freaking out as the minutes ticked by. The lady in front of me had her husband wait outside in the curbside checking line to see which would be faster. That one inched along just as slowly. Definitely the slowest checkin process I've ever seen anywhere.

Apart from that, I was very satisfied with Spirit and would probably give them a try again. Good luck! :D

We've flown on them a couple of times with generally few problems. A flight into Atlantic City from Fort Lauderdale was hours late, and their lines are usually pretty long. I haven't used them in years though, because I have a thing about old planes, and that's all they have, I think. I figure, if the seats and inside of the plane look old, what does the engine look like? LOL We were always fine though! LOL I just don't want to fly on planes from the 70's.

Nothing will beat the fear and thrill of flying Peoples Express in the 80's ($29) to West Palm - I think you'll be safer :cool2:

My family and friends have used Spirit airlines out of Detriot tons of times. We have used it to go to Orlando, Vegas, Myrtle beach etc..Spirit has great prices!! For the most part we have had no problems. The flights are on time and people are friendly. I say use spirit.

Haven't flown Spirit yet (but we have reservations for May) and I am already a very satisfied customer. Not only did we get a great rate ($144 r/t LGA to MCO over Memorial Day) that we booked online, we had to channge our dates to a few days earlier and I was able to do that online and only paid the $2.60 difference in fare per seat. No change fees. I thought that was great.

I have flown Spirit from Chicago (O'hare) to MCO twice in the past six months. All my flights were on time and without any problems. A big plus is the $40 upgrade to business class when available. It is a real treat. Also the counter and plane personnel have all been up-beat, helpful and friendly. They are now my first choice in flights.

Sounds like you were on the same flights I was - the best one was one time we landed in Newark and as we touched down a huge panel disloged from the ceiling wires and all. :duck: :faint:
