please tell me about Norway princess LUNCH

For better or for worse we have an ADR for this because I couldn't get an ADR for the Cinderella Royal Table - though I didn't really agressively try eithe since my DD is only 2 years old.

There are a few threads about it if you do a search for 'Akershus' ... the opinions seem very mixed!!! very love it/hate it!!!

Truthfully, I looked at the menu and find it a little bit scary!!! I may try to switch my ADR to breakfast from Lunch!!!!

We have done this lunch twice and really enjoy it. We had th emeatloaf type meal this last time and DS11 had some ravioli. The rice cream is yummy as are the rest of the desserts. You get to choose an entee each and also the cold bar that has cold salads, meats cheeses and breads. they bring a dessert platter to the table to share. My kids were 13 and 10 the first trip and liked it and liked it even better this last time. The princesses were great and we even purchased the picture this last time. Very relaxed and a cool atmosphere. There is something for everyone to eat and they were very gracious about bringing my 11 year old somethng off the kids menu. that is where the ravioli was. he loved it and the shrimp salad stuffed eggs! Go figure.

We would definately go again.

I loved it. The braised lamb was my favorite meal and the Lingonberry cheescake...Kids loved the princesses. Sleeping Beauty was the best character of the trip. She was so...conversational...and quite the hottie.

We've had lunch there twice and are booked for a third time when we visit in December. I had the Traditional Kjottkaker, which is like a meatloaf, on both visits. It is very tasty! We also enjoyed the cold salad and cheese bar and the dessert platter. I can't remember what DH chose for his entree, but he enjoyed it. And DD was too excited visiting with all the princesses to really care what she was having!

I didn't realize they had the princess LUNCH!!!:cool1:
I'm so excited! We go again in 2008 and my DD will be 6.
I don't like to do breakfast but really wanted to do the Askerhus Princess meal. We did CRT for lunch last visit and she had such a good time but once was enough.

We are doing dinnner. Does anyone have any advice about dinner choices or if the dinner was any good? And how was character interaction? Any info would be great. Thanks Chris :dance3:

Ahh, I have such mixed feelings about this restaurant now. We LOVED Akershus prior to the change to character dining... we're big fans of delicious Norwegian food. Pre-character Akershus had some of the best we've ever had... so, of course, we miss the old menu! We have dined there once since the change to character dining. The menu is still very tasty but not as good and not nearly as varied as before... so that is very disappointing for us. As for the characters, I can say they interact better than most I've seen at the character dining we've attended (and those have been numerous over the last fifteen years!). If I had to choose one character dining experience for my daughter when she was young, this one would be it. Each princess makes an effort to go to every table in the restaurant. Your child really will feel special. I'm sure we will book this meal again when we have grandchildren.

My daughter and I went last year and are doing the dinner there in September. We LOVED it! The food is quite unique but very well prepared. The cold buffet serves as an appetizer and offers really good cold salads, fish (but not overpowering fish), fresh baked breads, etc. They will bring you your entree, I had the pasta with chicken and it was great. The dessert tray was wonderful, they give you a little taste of everything, brought to your table. My daughter is picky and she enjoyed it.

The best part is the princess interaction. It offers the most princesses on property, we had Belle (who you get to pose for pics with...and then decideif you want them), Mulan, sometimes Cinderella, Snow White, etc. There were about four or five and they circulate to the table and pose for pics and TALK. They really talked to my daugther, not just a little hug and hello. I think it was Snow WHite that sat down with my daughter and spent a lot of time. VERY nice, very personal. You won't be dissapointed.:thumbsup2

Oh all this great feedback makes me really excited now. I think we'll stick with the lunch since we got a 11:25 reservation which is a good time for us...

Is there a photopass photographer at the princess lunch or is there a photo package that you can buy along with the meal? If it is a package, what does it cost? Thanks for your help. We have reservations there in October.
