Several Kohl's are opening in Jacksonville next week. The store is new to our area. Do they have good sales? What type of merchandise do they carry? The stores are opening on 10/06 and I am taking the day off to go and shop. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

GREAT sales!
Nice middle of the road clothes. Maybe a small step below a Dillards or a Foleys.
I like them because of the sales and they are in the neighborhood vs. having to go 10 miles to a mall.
I heard it is very good to get signed up for their Ccredit Card. My MiL gets tons of special offers through that.

They carry all sorts of stuff. Clothing, housewares, sneakers, shoes, some small children toys.

For brands I know they carry Dockers, Levi's, Carters, Osh Kosh, Nike, Adidias.

They have a good selection of brands.

They often have good sales. Usually everyday there is a sale, or at least it seems that way to me. They are one of those stores that always lists a sale price above every rack.

It kind of reminds me of a Sears without the tools, and outdoor section.

DO NOT START SHOPPING THERE.

It is very addictive. If you return something, there is always more to buy that costs more than what you returned. Their sales are great, clearance is even better.

The credit card is a must because you get at least 12 coupons/offers per year of 15% off, and sometimes you get lucky and get a 30% off coupon. I won't even tell you what I spent when I SAVED 30% off.

It's closer to me than the mall, I shop for most of our clothes and sneakers there now.

Kohl's is based out of Wisconsin. Senator Herb Kohl from Wisconsin started the stores with his families. He has since sold all his shares and is no longer a owner of the store chains or grocery stores.

The credit card has a high interest rate, but if you are able to pay it off each month, they run sales 4 times a year using your card and getting an extra 10 to 15% off your total merchandise.

They sell every size of clothing, housewares, linens, shoes and seasonal things, like with Christmas cominging, they sell a ton of ornaments and St. Nicholas Square Village homes.

Right now they are carrying the line of clothes by Daisy Fuetnes(sp?) which I don't like, it is made really cheap and it is sort of expensive, Villager, Levi, Lee, Oshkosh Bogash, and Kohls has Sonoma, sort of thier own brand name.

There is always a sale in the store and if you buy something not on sale and it goes on sale, you can bring it back and get the sale price.

I used to do Ad-Set 3rd Shift, I thought I would only be working Sat. nites, but I almost put in a 35-40 hour week changing ad-sets. Kohl's is constantly changing the pricing on their items. It can go from 10% to 60% off the sale price every 3 days, it drove me absolutely nuts.

Feel free to ask anyother questions.

About 10 times a year they give out $10 gift cards if you spend $50 or more to be used like the following week. I heard form corporate only 30% of the cards are ever used. That is so dumb, cause you can go back and buy on ly $10 and merchandise like socks, or a belt, or a candle. But they want you to come back and spend more I guess.

I got one of those cards last year. It drove me nuts that I didn't use it. I was all set to use it one day and something came up and it went back in the wallet. Then a few days later I remembered and was I mad at myself!

I don't think I've ever paid full price for anything @ Kohls. Everything is on sale.

We got a whole bunch of these by buying pillows, towels, matress cover, pillow covers, etc for me this summer for college (their sales are always at great times). We went back the next week, and by using those we were able to get my bed in a bag set for school for free.
We love Kohls. I'm bummed because I haven't made it there yet either of the weekends I've been home from school. They have soooo much variety of stuff at Kohls, and the sales are awesome.

IMHO, Kohl's is about the same as JC Penny's. It's a nice mid-level dept store. I agree, don't pay full price. They have sales all the time. Also, really watch the toy's cause they mark them up quite a bit to sell them at "50% off". I shop there quite a bit.

Kohl's is a great place to shop for about anything except for women size clothing. At least the one by me has a very limited selection for plus sizes. Whoever the buyer is must think that plus size women like to wear polyester pants all the time.

I do think that the quality of the clothing has gone down in the last year. You have to be careful what you buy.

I love Kohl's!!!

We finally have one opening up in Orlando and I can't wait!

Great sales, but the stores I have seen have the racks really close together. It is hard to push a cart or a stroller between the racks. During a really good sale, it can be messy looking and hard to find what you are looking for.

Gift cards are great. When we lived in IL, we would save the gift cards we got for Christmas and go to the after Christmas sales and would make out like bandits! I wish we had a Khols here.

The reason why this poster has never paid full price (actually me too) is because Kohl's prices ALL their items so that they can be marked down 50% or more every week!!

They are HORRIBLE!! I've seen them mark down items, then, during sale time, will mark them up so that when you take an extra 50% off, you're actually paying MORE than it was months before....they are a rip off!!!

It took me awhile to figure it out, it looks like they are great sales, but they're not, just great sales people

I think their sale prices are pretty good. The everday prices marked can be high, but they still end up being a good deal with the sales. Especially if you have a store credit card and get an additional percentage off.

I like Kohl's. It's not a fancy, high-quality store, but it's easy to get to, since it's not in the mall, and there's great selection. I don't buy things that need to be of good quality from there, but basics like t-shirts, socks, and kids' clothes are good values. In fact, I just went there tonight. I need something to wear to a funeral, and since I really don't need anything that will become something I wear all the time, it's a good place to find a good outfit.

I worked at Kohl's for 5 years in almost every department. I was also a department supervisor and never once did we mark anything up to put it on sale. It is not humanly possible to retag all of the on sale merchandise to a higher price and then back again within a day.

I think Kohl's is overall a great store to shop at. I worked there for 5 years and the only reason I left was that it became too much with working at my full time job and school AND a part time job.

I don't think I've ever purchased something full price there.

One tip - Some styles of dockers and dearfoams, and most all jockey product only go on sale a few times per year. Stores are contractually obligated to Jockey to only put them on sale at certain times of the year.

If you purchase something and it goes on sale for less within two weeks, just take your receipt in to customer service and they will price adjust. Keep in mind though, if you used a coupon on the first purchase, you won't get the additional discount on your price adjusted price, so sometimes it's just cheaper to keep the couponed price. Also, clearance isn't price adjustable.

They just changed the way they do interest rates on their credit card. It's now some ridiculous percentage (like 22.9 or something), BUT, if you pay 1/3 of your total bill each month for 3 months, you won't pay any interest, minimum of $50 payments. So if you make a purchase for $300, you can pay $100 each month for three months and not accumulate any interest.

Any questions, feel free to ask me!

I wanted to point out that it's easy to shop there with kids. The aisles are wide for strollers, and they have carts to hold all your purchases (since you pay at the front rather than in each department). Half of the shopping carts double as strollers, so you can leave yours in the car and just use theirs :)

ITA! Kohl's is really doing a disservice to women who wear larger sizes. I'm sorry, we are all not S, M, L, . The Women's section gets this little 10 ft X 10 ft area in the store, and I will not wear pumpkins on my white t-shirt. I can't believe they think women want to wear seasonal prints on shirts, I don't want to wear birds either in the summer.

I started looking on-line for plus size clothing, I don't want to wear what my dd-15 wears, but I don't want to wear polyster pants and shirts that my nuns used to wear at school when I was young.
