Iam...thinking of booking a week for next July in a 1 bed standard view.:)

But..I don't know much about this??...Where are the standard view rooms?...Whats the view?.Are they all on high up floors at Jambo?....how difficult are they to get?

Iam not really intersted in Kidani because I have learnt from past experience that my family needs a Quick service restaurant or food court...Mara fits the bill perfectly at Jambo house..:)

Please AKLV experts..tell me all you know..:wizard: ...I need to decide in the next couple of weeks weather to go for AKL or some place else.

Thanks..:thumbsup2

All DVC at Jambo is 5th floor (except Concierge is 6th floor) Animal viewing distance is not bad, about the same distance deer come to my house.

Standard view is either pool or parking lot view.

At this point no one really knows how Jambo availability with Kidani will compare to Jambo availability pre-Kidani. I think you have a better than normal shot getting a Jambo Standard view 1BR, because there are also Standard view 1BRs in Kidani that have the extra bathroom (thus Kidani 1BRs may be more desireable)

There is an availability forum where you might get a snapshot of availability. Good luck!

The Standard View rooms in Jambo House are all pool view and on the 5th floor of the Lodge building. The Standard View rooms in Kidani will be on all floors and have a view of a pool, garden or parking lot. The 1BR/2BRs in Kidani are larger than those in Jambo. There isn't much of a size difference between the studios in each building. The Kidani 1BR/2BRs have an additional bathroom just off the kitchen with a toilet, sink and tub/shower and the master bathroom has a whirlpool tub and separate shower stall. In Jambo House the master bathroom has a combined whirlpool tub and shower so you don't get a separate shower stall.

As noted all Jambo standard views are on 5th floor (which means top floor for most, next to top around the lobby area which has a sixth floor) and have view of pool, although some see more roof below them than pool. That also places all standards essentially above and with easy access to all Jambo restaurants (Mara, Boma and Jikos), lobby, and store.

So which standard view would you request if you could?
Kidani or Jambo is not a request, it's a guaranteed booking category. (somewhat like the OKW "near HH" or "other")

Its a personal decision. Will you more enjoy the added space/bathroom, new pool, new restaurant of Kidani more often than you would enjoy the Jambo restaurants and pool?

If you think you would go to Jambo every day for dining, but only enjoy the new pool and restaurant one time each, you might find staying in Jambo more enjoyable. If you do not plan on using many Jambo ammenities, you may prefer Kidani.

Thanks Guys...:thumbsup2 ...I think I'll try for a ressie when my 7 month window opens up soon...Its good to know that all standards are pool view...And they are all on the 5th floor..(bit nervous about that..hate heights).....Is there something I can request...close to elevator??..Something that will not have me down a long hallway??....Not sure how I should word this to MS..:)

I have learnt they do take your requests "literally"....last time I requested close to the main lodge as possible for VWL...well...as the crow flies we "were" the closest.;) ...But walking we were definitly not..I should have said close to elevators..:)

Are all DVC rooms (except concierge) on the 5th floor? Or is it just all standard view rooms that are on the 5th floor?

We are leaving in 10 days (Dec. 7th) and are staying in a 1 BR SV. Does this mean that we will be on the 5th floor.....or could we be on any floor?

Thanks

AKV is the place to go to relax. You almost forget you are still on property but yet all of the magical touches are still there. Although we loved our SV 1 bedroom the pool views looked good too. I'm sure even the standard views would still have the same ambiance. Of course you can go to the savannahs at any time to view the animals.

Mara is a great food court. They have the basics like pizza and hot dogs but they also have specialty items like African Stew which is outstanding.

Enjoy!

What standard view rooms in AKL Jambo has the best view of the pool...avoiding the roof view?

I could be wrong, but I think all DVC villas in Jambo are on floors 5 and 6 only.

Here's my view from #5436. It's a studio, not a 1 BR, but it gives you an idea of views from that area-

And I have a huge fear of heights, but being on the 5th floor didn't present any problems.

I had a standard view studio at AKV in June and it faced the pool, but had a lot of roof between the balcony and the pool view. I loved the location from from inside. It opened up right over the lobby by the bridge so it was very convenient for coming and going. I'm booked for June 22 - 27 in a 1 bedroom. I tried for Kidani on the first day I could book 7 months out, but two of my nights were not available, so I confirmed for Jambo with automatic waitlist for all nights at Kidani, 1BR SV. I kind of have mixed feelings about whether I get Kidani. I think we would love the "new" resort and pool and definitely the extra bathroom, but I have reservations about the fast food situation and possible construction interfering with the resort experience. Oh well, if it happens fine, if not, we will still have great accomodations at Jambo and can visit Kidani if we choose to. We will have a car, so it won't be a big deal to go over for the pool/splash area/community hall.
