please step by step waitlist how to

I just want to make sure I have this right--Im always afraid when I make changes something is going to get screwed up--so please excuse my unsureness

anyways Im trying to waitlist BCV replacing my POLY ressies--I doubt at this time it will come through seeing its for the end of Jan
this is more or less pratice for next year--I want to make sure I really know what Im doing

anyways heres what I have

I go to the dashboard and click modify click BCV the n check availbility
continue to waitlist

wailtlist request

now heres where I start getting a little confused

it gives a choice to end 30 days or 7 days--now if I understand right Id want to check end 30 days cause if I check end 7 days the points would go into holding which I dont want to do--is that right--

and if the WL doenst come through in 30 days I want to keep my POLY

then I would want to check to replace my POLY if the WL comes through is this right

my plan for next year to really try for the BCV at 7 months Ive been watching the POLY our home resort for openings and actually theres its still open for our dates

for next year say at 7 months theres some of the dates open--would I book those and WL the rest hoping for the rest--

if WL doenst come through then could I use the points for POLY (or we want to try another resort with room)


again sorry for all the questions--Im still trying to figure out this WL as we dont own alot of points--we usually have to borrow which of course then lowers our available points for the following year

and for sure cant afford to lose any points

If the BCV room is less points than the Poly reservation you have then you have a decision. If you selected for the waitlist to go until 7 days and to replace the Poly room then the difference in points between the two will end up in holding. You then need to try and use up those holding points before the end of your UY or they will expire. If you don't want to do that then have the waitlist end at 31 days out.

If the BCV room requires more points and you select for it to go to 7 days and to replace the Poly reservation then it will use the points from the Poly room plus take more points to make up the difference. There will be no points in holding.
