I posted this in another thread but I think some people on this thread need to read it. There are actually more people (percentage wise) that speak English born in foreign lands today than in the early 1900s. The "problem" is not getting worse it is actually getting better. But I am glad to see that so many people are so tolerant of others that just happened to arrive here after they did. Seriously maybe our official language should be more along the lines of Navajo , if you really want to play the "well I was here first" game.![]()

That's right English has become a world wide common language. So, what language do YOU think everyone in America should learn? We have people here from every country. In Washington we have a huge Asian, Mexican, Russian, East Indian population and the list could go on. I guess we should learn them all.
If I were to go to another country to live, I would expect to learn their language. There are a lot of countries that in order to become citizens require you to take classes and be able to speak the language of their country fluently or no citizenship!
Honestly that "other countries speak English" just doesn't fly. Did you know when you go to doctor and require a interpretor that the doctors office has to pay the interpretor? That is not right!
ETA; Your link doesn't work.

Her company is ready to tell hospitals they work for...if we can't understand the dictation, we're not transcribing it.
