Feed Me Better Campaign

It's so important that kids get fed proper food. My neice is due to be starting school in the next few years and the thought of her eating that stuff fills me with dread. Whether or not you like Jamie Oliver or you think this is just a promotional tool on his behalf please sign the petition. Thanks!

ive already signed...i used to think JO was a bit of a prat but he has gone way up in my estimation with this campaign.
the way our kids are fed at school is appalling, i had to do a lunchtime visit to our primary school this week and although the school meals didn't look too bad ( salad was an option) the snack bar consisted of chips and rubbish and the head told me some kids eat this every day !!
dd takes sandwiches to school but ate at the snack bar once a week ( ive told her never again tho)
i hope the government takes more notice of this campaign :worried: :worried:

Yep i have signed it too. I was so shocked at what kids eat in the schools.

I just signed. I saw in the paper yesterday they were hoping to get 100,000 signatures. When I just signed I was number 110,979. My daughter starts school in September and I'll send her with a packed lunch unless anything has improved by then.

I have signed it as well. I think Jamie Oliver deserves a knighthood, he gives so much of himself to things he believes passionately about

I had already signned it. My children's school actually serves very nutritious meals (must be one of the few having watched Jamie's School Dinners) but my DDs take packed lunch to school and have their "main" meal of the day at tea time. This way I know exactly what they are eating! :)

Thanks for posting the link, Queenie. I have just signed it. My DD's can only take sandwiches to school as there is no canteen but I have helped out there and you would just not believe what some parents put in their kids lunchboxes! :confused3

I feel the same way about Jamie Oliver....he used to do nothing but get on my nerves, but fair play to the guy, even before this campaign, he seems to have stopped doing the things that annoyed me :-)

School dinners don't really concern me yet as much as they should, my eldest doesnt start school until this September, but at the moment, im just hoping she will eat "something" at school, instead of the next-to-nothing that she does now.....she worries me sick how little variety she will eat, and how little quantity. :sad2:

We started Beth on Butties and she pleaded to go on School Dinners cause it was what her friends had. We asked her every day what she ate and it was soon obvious that they were basically serving shipped in cr*p every day, they had a choice between chips, nuggets, more chips and hey some nuggets. After the one term we changed back to butties and put fruit with no sweets or chocolate in the dinner. She regulary comes home with stars for having fruit instead of sweets to which she is always proud. We regulary have a treat night and my two daughters choose what they wish to have. I think due to the fact we keep them away from School Dinners we have a greater influence on there eating habits---want to know what they choose for treat night tea? One has Shephards Pie and the other a bowl of pasta.

Dave, I would start Kathryn on butties to control what she has until you have an idea what they serve at the school. She may eat little now but once she gets the taste for this trash they serve everyday she wont eat good food. Lets face it no matter how long JO campaigns, how long before it appears in a primary school in Fleetwood ? People have to get real here.
