Everyone please share your ideas, tips, tricks, secrets, etc. for cruising. My DH and I will be taking our first cruise this Oct. and I feel like a fish out of water! I feel fairly comfortable making WDW plans, but I am totally lost when it comes to this. I don't know what to book, what to take, what to do! Please Help! :sad2:
PS-We are going on RC or Carnival, saving DCL for with kids.

In addition to the great info I discovered here, we found the Passporters Guide to the DCL and Birnbaums Guide to the DCL very informative with lots of tips and info. Borders, Amazon.com or any large bookshop should have them.

Don't forget to read through the "~*~*~LOOK HERE~*~*~ for links to lots of really useful cruise info" Sticky thread at the top of the forum.

Thanks for the tips so far! :) But what I would really like to know is things like what category do I book, what kind of room, what routes are good, what off shore excursions should we do? This type of thing. Also I totally don't know anything about the whole seating times thing. How do you know what is best? Thanks for the help.

Stick around here for a while. You'll get the idea. Also you'll get more help if you ask very specific questions. Good luck.

Main Seating is at 6:00 Pm. Late is 8:30....We are hooked on late, so we rush less to all get ready for dinner. This would depend on if you have any young ones of course...

We book a cat. 11 (cheapest) as we spend little time in our room. We use deck 7 aft (sort of secret) for our outdoor balcony!!!!!!!! We prefer the eastern with the extra at sea day, but would do any route.. We usually do our own excursions, and make them beach days, our kids love it, as do we.

We love deck 6 or 7, because is is almost midground. 3 floors up to pools, 2 down to EAT, and 1 down to kids clubs...THis is based on deck 6.

dcltribute.com is a fanstastic site to float around, and see different tricks, noisey rooms..etc..

HTH :goodvibes

Thank you mommasita! This is exactly the type of info I was looking for! :flower:

The DH and I like the category 5 staterooms on deck 7. We love having a verandah. I always think of it this way...if you're the kind that likes to have an oceanfront room when you go to the beach, then you'd love having a verandah.
Also, if you happen to take a cruise that goes to Nassau, then I highly recommend doing the Dolphin Ecounter. It's one of the shore excursions that can be booked thru Disney, and it's a LOT of fun.
If you like Bingo, then you have to at least play one game while on your trip. We played once on our cruise, and even though we didn't win, it was still a lot of fun.
Don't miss the Sailaway Party...it's really fun. We made sure to be there and got to see one of the Carnival ships leave before we did...thought that was kinda cool!
And if you like drinks, then you have to try the Bon Voyage...it's yummy!
