Please share your opinions and pictures from the BLUE BAYOU?

I would love to know if anyone has any pictures of their experiences at the Blue Bayou. We would love to see the food choices and overall atmosphere pics. We kept seeing this enchanting little place to eat when we rode on the Pirates ride but after we exited the ride, we forgot to go see what this place was all about and didn't find out until we returned home. We are from Louisiana so to see that it had some Cajun flair, it has interested us into wanting to book this for our 2010 trip. Any help would greatly be appreciated. THANKS SO MUCH

I have been before and love the atmosphere. But it is very pricey and you need priority seating.
My pictures are from before they remodeled the ride a couple of years ago so I'd be interested in what it is like now too.

I made PS's the first day available, and we were seated at the water with no problem. Everyone there was VERY friendly and very efficient.

I'd promised my boys the cookie boats, and knowing they wouldn't eat lunch and a huge plate of sweets, chose to split the Monte Cristo 3 ways. I'd read about plate charges and waiters being snippy. No such thing! There was plenty for 3 of us to share...the waiter even said it was a good idea considering how huge the desserts are!

Yes, it was expensive. However, this was one of two splurges for this trip. The Monte Cristo was very good. I'd had one before that was horrid...but kept thinking that everyone here can't be wrong. It came with a salad and veggies. One plate was more than enough for my family.

Then came the dessert...yum! Cookie boats! Sadly, we broke the sails that same day, but the memory is wonderful.

I didn't use flash and the copies of the photos I put on photobucket are so small that you can't see anything. If I have a chance I'll come back another time and post them from my camera!

We love the BB!!!!! The food, the atmosphere, not so much the prices but still. I don't have any photos but every meal we've eaten there has been great! I do suggest getting a PS tho, especially in peak season.

Ok so it's hard to get good pics in there with it being so dark..these are the best we got. You can kinda see the atmosphere in them tho. We ordered the ribs. SO TENDER and delicious. It was our first time and we WILL go there again. It's something we'll save extra for. It is VERY pricey, however.

I do think this is one of those places that pics don't do it justice. The atmosphere is really built by the lighting, the sound, the smell, and the darkness. All very hard to impossible to photograph.

I've only been for dessert, but am going to check it out 'for real' on my birthday. I also got a first seating right when they open in hopes of securing a waterside table. I can't wait!

I remember being little and riding POTC and looking over every single time and thinking 'I can't wait until I'm grown up and I get to eat there!' The food is alright, and it is pretty pricey, BUT! I would eat a PBJ sandwich and drink some box juice if it meant I could have the experience of being there!

We have never had a bad meal or poor service. Loved the prime rib when they had it. If you order 1 plate of food and just want to give the little person they do not charge you for that. When you get a split plate, they split the food in the kitchen and bring out sides for the people who split. Hope that makes sense.

If you just ask for an extra plate then it's free (even if the extra plate is for a big person). But, like blackjackdelta said, if they split it in the kitchen then they charge you $12.

I LOVE the atmosphere. I have eaten there only twice. In 1998, we thought the food was decent. In 2005, the food was very mediocre (IMO, airplane food level) and expensive and the service was slow. I have heard they have improved to try to be more competitive with high end restaurants, though.

I would go back; only maybe just for desserts. My husband won't go for anything. He is stubborn, though!

Now, ask me what I think of Ralph Brennan's... MMMMMM...

We have always gone for lunch as it is cheaper and that is when you can get the Monte Cristo. It is a fun experience, but they keep raising the prices. When we went for the first time in 2005, the Monte Cristo was $14.99, now it is $21.99. That is a big price jump in just a few years. Their menu has gotten a lot more expensive overall. We do still enjoy going there, but we won't be dining there every trip, just occasionally. Now if you are just wanting the Monte Cristo, they also have it over at Cafe Orleans for cheaper, but you don't get the sides with it. We ate it there in February, but it wasn't as good as I remembered. I have heard that the two restaurants share a kitchen so it is the same at both restaurants.

So, if you want to experience something new, go ahead and try the Blue Bayou. It is the only restaurant of its kind at DL. Just be aware that it is a bit pricey. It is fun to see the pirate's boats go by while you eat. Sorry I don't have pictures as it is dark in there and we never thought to take pictures inside.

The food has improved a LOT this year. I would say the steak is disappointing. I highly promote the short ribs, they are to kill for.

I splurged and got the surf and turf there and was very satisfied, I figured 30 bucks is a bit pricey for a steak, but 40 for steak and lobster aint a bad deal haha.

The setting is very cool, we mad PS and were given a waterside table within minutes of checking in.

After my meal I couldnt handle dessert although im very curious about this cookie boat I keep hearing about.

We got PS as soon as possible, and went for lunch on our last trip. Lunch is much cheaper, and we really wanted to to go for the atmosphere more than anything else. I think it was worth it. We got there early (in line before it opened) and were seated by the water as we requested. I fed my DS (14m at the time) a little off of everyone's plates and didn't pay for anything except his milk. The kids (DS and friend's DD3yr) thought it was fun to see the ride boats go past - kept DS entertained for the whole meal.

I think it's a fun splurge and I'll do it again next time we go!

We had a wonderful experience, we went for lunch, party of six with two small kids, and everyone was happy!

I don't have a lot to offer picture-wise, here is my eldest DS getting a free chocolate mousse just for wearing his birthday button! You can kind of make out some of the decor and fun lighting in the background......

And here is the infamous cookie boat, I would pillage a village for one right now!
