Hi,

I have committed to walking 60kms over two days in August to raise funds to end cancer.

Each participant has to raise a minimum of $2000.00. I am about 1/2 way there just from asking family and coworkers for donations but now it's getting harder.

In the the past what are some successful fundraisers that you have done?

Oh how odd! I was going to post something so similar!

I'm doing a walk in May for Cystic Fibrosis. My boyfriends 1 year old cousin has it, so everyone in the family is going to walk. I too am searching for fund raising ideas, although I don't have a minimum, I do have a personal goal.
I know our walk offers special incentives for stores donating larger sums of money such as banners along the route, etc...but I live in Staten Island and the walk is in Jersey, so merchants here are reluctant to do this.

Any ideas would definatly be appreciated!

(The baby's mother did give us all pictures of her beautiful little one to tear at the heartstrings of people...but when you're a broke college kid with broke college friends, it's difficult to find people willing to give...)

Here is a couple ideas. Some will need some help from your freinds and family. A c0-worker of mine did the walk last year in Toronto.
-A 50/50 draw
-Bake Sale
-Car Wash

You might be able to pace a link to the end cancer web site on the board to get funds added to your account.

A 50/50 draw is a raffle where 50 % of the funds go to the winner and 50 % of the funds go to the charity.

50/50 Raffle is where you sell tickets...say for $1 each. At the end of the fundraiser, you do a drawing. Whoever wins gets half the money (50%) and the cause gets the other half!

We did these at all our sporting events in college. The proceeds went to the scholarship funds. There was a drawing at each game. Soccer games (low attendance) there might only be 100 tickets sold so the winner got $50 and the scholarship fund got $50 and the manpower was donated by student groups and athletes. B-ball games (huge attendance) there were usually 1000 tickets sold....$500 to the drawing winner and $500 to scholarships! Easy way to do a raffle....you could do it from now until the day of the walk and have the drawing at the end of the walk....
