please settle an "argument" re: cribs at Disney

remember if you get a pack and play that you feel isnt clean....you can call mousekeeping or the front desk to rectify the problem:thumbsup2

Yup that's right you can call the front desk and they will bring a new one but...it took over an hour. They had to get a bell person who had to go to where ever they stored them etc...They were very nice about it but it did take awhile especially when you have a sleeping baby laying on the bed. When we were leaving we had checked out of our room and went to the parks. We came back to the hotel to change (we used the pool changing locker room) we had to go past our rooms to get our rental car and it was pouring....there was our pack and play all folded up sitting in the rain. YUCK!!!!! I told DH that I hoped they opened it up and let it air dry before the next person had to use it or it might be moldy. After reading the posts here it seems like it is hit or miss with the pack and plays. Good luck and have a great trip!

We stayed at SSR in June. We had a Pack N Play in the closet. We needed another, so we called down to the front desk and our pack n play arrived in 5 minutes!

When my mom made our reservations (at SSR), she asked for a crib for my son. They apparently told her that they would note the request.

I thought they just offered the pack & plays for little ones -- and those are already in the rooms.

My mom thinks that because they didn't correct her about her crib request and tell her about the pack & play, that means they must have cribs.

Who is right? Does/can Disney provide an actual crib or do they call the pack and play a crib?? :confused3

As a few DVC members have indicated, ALL DVC studios and villas should have a Pack 'n Play type portable crib in them when you arrive. You can also "REQUEST" a crib and the DVC resorts do have some available. These are smaller then regular cribs that you have at home, but have a crib mattress and are off the floor. There are only a limited number of these at each DVC resort, so they are on a first-come first-served basis which is why you can only "REQUEST" one.

We found this to be true when staying at the Deluxe resorts before becoming DVC members, even though we didn't need them for our family, someone in our group did. You could "REQUEST" a crib, but you never knew which would be delivered ... a Pack 'n Play type or a larger one.

Does that help?

I read this thread with great interest as I will have a 1 y.o. when we visit VWL in 21 Days!!

Your answer cleared it up for me!
We will have a pnp in the 1bdrm, but I also put in a request for a crib. DS3 still sleeps in a crib, or the crib mattress on the floor at home. He will be using a readybed which he has used at home and for 2 nights while traveling. Just in case, It would be nice to have DD in a crib and the pnp in case of DS emergency!

Thank you so much!

We take no chances either, and reserve in advance with A Baby's Best Friend. THey've never disappointed, always nice and clean, and ours sleeps better in their cribs (with the Disney bedding!) than they do at home.

One more thing not left to chance on the trip. Our motto is 'Go with what you know works' and we're not running around wasting time when we get there. :) I've read too many horror stories eh? . . .

I believe they have a small number of cribs available and then a larger number of pack-n-plays. If a crib is important, I’d rent from ABBF. My kids would sleep on a fence post, so a pack-n-play works just fine for us. It’s what they nap in downstairs as babies anyhow. I actually bring our own pack-n-play. DS#2 has health issues, and as an infant, I could take no chances with him. He’s out of the crib stage, but since I was used to it, I just continued with DS#3. Of course, we drive.

When we went with my girls when they were babies, I requested a crib & they put an actual crib in the room. I had them take it back however because it was very scary - it was all metal & the rails were very high. I couldn't reach into the crib at all! My girls cried. I ended up asking for a second pakNplay which worked alot better.

It might be worth calling the resort directly and asking for clarification. Staff has always told me that they will guarantee a pack-n-play, but all other requests (room location, bed arrangements, etc.) are based on availability.

The numbers listed for the resorts don't really get you the front desk - they are routed through central first, so you might think you are talking to someone at the resort, but most likely you are not...

Mrs. D just curious as to where you are staying....POR has the nice trundle beds. Just curious! We love ABBF. Good luck on your trip!

BCV had metal cribs besides the PnP.

I just called last week and reserved 2 nights at POR. The CM asked me if I'd like to request a "crib". I said yes under the assumption that it will be a crib, not a PnP. :confused3

We're staying at the VIllas of Wilderness Lodge! It's a 1bdrm with DH & I in the king bed and my Mom on the pull out couch. We're putting Norah (DD1) in the PnP in the walk in closet of the bathroom and Travis (DS3) on the readybed in the room with us. I'm sure Travis will be fine on it, but sometimes he does like to go back in his crib. So if we can get Norah in a crib, it'll be nice to have the PnP as a back up - just in case.
Overall, I'm not really worried about his sleeping arrangement too much!
