We are going down to wdw for 13 nights from Aug/sept. For the first 4 nights we are staying at the vistana villages. We do have a ressie for the All Star Music for the other 9 nights. Now that EE is gone and a few not so great things we have heard about the value resorts we were thinking of switching to the PO-FQ. I heard that a discount is coming out for $89+taxes. It is about $30 a night more. For a total of close to $300 difference. Is it worth it to upgrade or find a hotel offsite?
We are seriously thinking of staying off site at a nice hotel. I will even do another timeshare presentation. I wouldn't mind more disney tickets.
We will be having a rental car, so the shuttle is not an issue.
1- Which hotel is really nice.
2- Close to Disney.
3-Has a great pool and great atmosphere.
4- Breakfast included is always a plus.
5- Reasonbly priced.

As you can tell we are very confused and will appreciated all of your advice. Thanks!!!

Check out Holiday Inn Family Suites, Do a search on HIFS and you can read what a lot of people say about it. Grate pool, free huge buffet breakfast for all, kids eat free lunch and dinner with paying adult, 1 mile from disney. Look for specials ( last year, buy 1 nite/get 1 nite)We've stayed at both and would do either again. All Stars are great, don't let some bad posts sway you. Maybe you could split between those two??
Good Luck.

www.go2orlando.com has lots of information on hotels that are right outside of WDW in which you can read about also www.orlandoinfo.com and www.floridakiss.com have accomodation listings as well. There are so many great places to stay that don't require time share presentation attendance (if you're not really interested) in this area that you are bound to find something you like in a price range which will best suit your budget and tastes! I have stayed offsite for years now with excellent quality lodging while always having a wonderful, magical, and economical vacation with definitely more room space/amenities (wouldn't think twice now about doing it any other way) ; highly reccommend it to everyone! Good luck with your decision; have a good trip!

Country Inn and Suites at Calypso Cay Way.
Stayed there for 7 night plus one other night this May. Opened Oct 2001
Had nice warm pool with a small water slide, zero depth area. water sprays and one other regular rectangular pool(spent my time in the hot tub)
Big breakfast buffet included, cereals, doughtnuts, muffins, bagels, milk juices coffee with different creamers, biscuits and gravy, french toast, waffles, toast
Took us less than 10 minuted to drive to parks, with a straight shot on Oceola Parkway.(hotel is on 535, one block south of Oceola Parkway)
Paid 39.50 per night with entertainment discount, booked by calling Country Inn #800 (800-456-4000) Never bothered by timeshare presentation since I made my ressies this way. And I could cancel if I needed too with no penalty up until the day of our stay by 6:00 pm
Next time I go I'll get two adjoining rooms at that 39.50 rate. My daughter will be a teen then and may want a little more privacy that the standard room offered. Then I'll have 4 double beds, two fridges, two microwaves and two bathrooms)
I don't recommend their Kid Suite. It was not a suite. Same sise as my standard room with one double bed taken out and some Kids bunk beds put in its place
All rooms have a small fridge and microwave
It is three blocks from a Publix supermarket

thanks everyone!!
To Iowagirl, do you know if they have a website so I can look at the hotel? Sounds like a great deal.

I'm not sure if I'm following here ... you currently have a rate of $59 at the All Stars and are considering canceling it and staying off site? I am a DVC member, but I like to save points and money by staying off-site. So, I stay off-site all the time using Priceline. I just returned from a 4 night stay at the Renaissance Worldgate on 192 for a mere $35 per night. It was cheap and it was nice, but if I had a $59 rate at the All Stars I would have stayed there instead! I really like the All Stars. The food court is great, the pools are big and best of all the bus system ROCKS.

Some of the places recommended by other posters are actually higher that the All Stars. I would never, never, never pay more to be off-site than to be at one of the WDW resorts. Last November I stayed at the Hilton near DD because my husband's company paid for the hotel. It frosted me that they were paying $179 (!) per night for the Hilton. We moved to All Star Sports and I was much, much happier.

Don't get me wrong! Off-site is perfectly OK if you're saving a boat-load of money or if you have a large family and need a suite. I just don't think the amount of $$ you will be saving ($10-$25 per night) is worth the added hassle. Plus, there really is something about the "Disney Magic" IMO.

I don't have a boatload of money OR a big family, just me and my son, but we like space and the All Stars, though it may have other attributes, lacks that perk BIG time!

I stayed at the All Stars once and that was enough for me.

I do agree with my namesake about Priceline, though. I have used it to get hotels that I normally cannot afford. It's great if you have champagne taste and Kool-Aid pockets.

The HIFS is the closest to a Disney hotel that I can imagine. The location is great and the breakfast is a big money saver. They have been a bit high rate wise lately, mostly because of the popularity of this hotel, but deals can still be found if you're diligent.

I would go with a moderate at Disney for $89l The code is out now!:D It really is worth that rate! You could split the last 9 nights between AS and a moderate :) , saving money and getting to see the differences!

call off the search!!! Thanks everyone. I just booked my hotel. I am staying at the vistana villages for the first 4 nights and for the next 9 nights we booked the PO/FQ. We did get the rate of 89 +tax which came out to $99. The difference is $270 more than what we were going to pay at the asmu. In the grand sceme of the whole vacation what's a littlel more. Do not get me wrong I would love to save as much as I can but to hang around the pool with the slide for the kids would be all worth it.

We love the AS! We did recently stay at CBR and it was great ($84 rate). Over 9 nights I would definitely do a mod over the value. You can go to wdwig.com and see the resort maps. I woudl request something close to food court/pool/buses as these resorts can be very spread out! I think you are getting a great deal! Just think -you can pay$89 really anywhere in Orlando and you will be right on site!!!
