I was speaking to Pete last night about the Community board. For whatever reason it has not been the friendliest of places lately. For some reason it's become ok to attack someone that posts because they are feeling down or are looking to vent. Too many people have even made a sport of it.
I'm not really sure why people take such pleasure in doing that. My best guess is that it makes them feel better than that person and that they are trying to deal with their own issues.
Just because someone has a self image problem doesn't make it ok for them to attack others.
Quite frankly I have read plenty of posts where I shake my head and think "What the heck is that person thinking". It doesn't mean I want to go after that person or degrade and demean them.
The Webmasters and the DIS mod team are going to begin to enforce posting guideline 3 very strictly. For those not familiar with it it reads:
3. NO FIGHTING: Several Internet news groups are marred by the actions of a few selfish people who turn an otherwise positive forum into a soap box for their anger issues. Internet newsgroups are not moderated, and therefore, anything goes. These boards are moderated in an effort to keep the discussions appropriate to the topic at hand. Those who feel they can not abide by these rules are welcome to read the posts on the board, and respond via email to the person who posted the message. Messages that are argumentative or sarcastic in nature will be deleted without discussion.
Any messages violating this guideline will be removed immediately without notificatin. Anyone who continues to violate that guideline will face further action which may include the removal of their posting priveleges.
Everybody can help us by using the "report this post" button whenever you see this type of behavior.
Thanks to the vast majority of posters who come here to enjoy the boards!

I've been lurking for a while - I may be inspired to post more now. Thanks!
