Please Rank: Artist Point, Jiko, Yachtsman

Your new plans sounds great! :thumbsup2

We love Kona, so I'd definitely recommend going there before La Nouba. Just hang out and have a great and relaxing meal before your night out. :)

Of the three listed, I'd rank them in this order: Jiko, Artist Point, Yachtsman. But, they are all great, so if you have never been to any of them, you can't go wrong with picking any two of the three.

I'd agree with this...

That new crab cake is the one i described having, just didnt remember the full details. sorry. I just remember it tasting gross cause it was so cold.
We all have our tastes...like i said, Artist Point is much different in their culinary than other restaurants...Its just different there.
I didnt say it was fact that it was below others, I was merely giving my list as the OP asked for as an opinion and for me Artist Pointe Doesnt cut it anymore.
I have frequented more than i can count each Sig restuarant (except V&A, I refuse to dress in a suit at disney)as well so please dont play that card as if I am not entitled to an opinion.
AP was a nightmare last april cause we had this guy server named, I want to say Iggy or something...This friggin guy would not shut up that he basically joined our table cause he talked so much, that I swear i thought we were stuck in the Twilight zone we were there for so long....Hopefully the OP doesnt get this guy, Its going to be a long dinner indeed if they do

Lets move on to Jikos. Why I said they have the most outstanding service is due to a issue I had with myself while dining there. After a few glasses of incredible wine at this restaurant I neglectfully fergot to take my gift card I used to pay that still had 1100.00 available funds on when we left.
I would not have noticed until the next day where it probably would have been too late but Jeff, our aweseome server and wine Sommelier brought it to Barbara, The manager.....no big deal,,,thats prob their job...but what was most impressive and why I rank this #1 customer satisfaction is that Barbara personally tracked me down to where I was staying, called the Beach club, got my room and informed me that she had my gift card...I screamed in relief and thanked her 100 times....
and said that i would come tomorrow to pick it up....she said no need to do it...
we close the restaurant around 1am, I will drop it off at the front desk for you so just pick it up tomorrow when you have a chance.....
No where ever ever EVER, even off Disney property would someone do this..ESPECIALLY at 1am in the morning....Think about it, you ran a dining establishment for 6 hours, you leave work at weee hours in the morning, the last thing i want to do is go out of my way to do more work....but she was deadicated and that shines in this day and age, you will never find that kind of customer service........
So everytime we go back she totally knows us and we have an awesome time dining there....
Yes the food delievery is slow, but we are patient people, so that doesnt bother us. I know that half the world is rush rush rush...but screw that....as long as it come out hot and tasting good, which it always does.....its got a soft spot in our hearts for sure..

I didn't like Artist Point's crab cake, but just letting you know that they replaced it with a crab salad served with cucumber mint sorbet and black sea salt. It's one of the most interesting and delicious appetizers I've had at WDW.

Also, the main reason Artist Point is quiet and tranquil is because of the very high ceilings, adequate space between tables, and peaceful background music. I've seen it empty at 5:30 (right when it opens), but it always gradually filled up, and noise is still never an issue.

You say the staff is incredible at Jiko, but I have to say Jiko is the one signature where we've had the most unfriendly, unhelpful service multiple times. We even received palate cleansers on two different occasions to make up for the unusually long gap in between courses.

Just pointing out that it's not necessarily fact that Artist Point is below the others. We frequent all of the signatures, and AP has been our favorite signature since summer 2010 (before then it was Citricos, which has taken a dive in our ranking). I think Artist Point was at its worst in early 2009. Since then, our meals there have been mostly creative and tasty.

I never said anything about you not being entitled to your opinion. However, saying "stay away from Artist Point" and "the food isn't prepared normally" is a lot more forceful than simply stating an opinion.

Also, I can't help but think it's your fault if you ordered a dish labelled as a salad (cold) and expected a crab cake (warm). The dish was so successful to me because it was cool, light, and refreshing, but still had unique flavor touches from the mint and black sea salt. If I had expected something hot and ordinary, I would've been disappointed too.

I don't see why the food at Artist Point seems abnormal to you while at Jiko everything is perfect. I like them both because they offer some unique flavors and preparations. But regarding the service, we have no issues having meals at a leisurely pace. We've even had 4 hour meals at California Grill to take in the food and view. But there's a difference between just right and too slow, and I think 40 minutes between finishing our appetizers and receiving our entrees is too slow (and Jiko knew it, hence the palate cleansers that weren't brought out to other tables. It was a nice touch to make up for off service). Sorry that you didn't like Izzy at Artist Point. We've never had him, but I've seen people rave about him on the boards. I guess it shows that everyone's opinion is different (hence why I thought some of your statements about AP were a bit too definite).

However, saying "stay away from Artist Point" and "the food isn't prepared normally" is a lot more forceful than simply stating an opinion.

yes, that's nonsense.

saying this means I believe that the food is, as i said as well, prepared differently.
And when I say stay away, I am not directing or brainwashing the OP to do so...
its just how strongly i feel about the place and my recommendation or OPINION is to stay away from this place, and I believe that the OP will have enough common sense to take everyones opinions and make an educated decision as to where they want to go.

I take nothing of what i said back because it is just an opinion of which we are all entitled to. IF he/she doesn't take any of these as opinions and make his own educated decision, that is not my problem really.

you all just think its nonsense cause there is actually someone posting a response
here that is not in line with all the others, that AP is this great place....I just feel it is not.

yes, that's nonsense.

We've never eaten at Jiko, but we thought both Artist Point and Yachtsman were excellent :thumbsup2. The filet at both places was amazing as was the salmon at Artist Point :goodvibes.

@beachclub: The thing is, you weren't the only person to dislike AP in this thread. I'd say the thread overall was most in favor of Jiko, with lots of people supporting all three. There's nothing wrong with having different opinions (my opinions of Flying Fish and Citricos differ highly from most people on the boards, for example). I just think there's a way of phrasing things to not seem so certain when it's a subjective topic.

1) Jiko
2) Artist Point
3) Yachtsman

Jiko is my favorite restaurant at Disney World and I think it should absolutely not be missed. The other two are also quite good, though not huge priorities for us. If you're limited to Dining Plan participants, then I think you've chosen well. If not, I would maybe consider Shula's instead of the Yachtsman.

1. Jiko
2. Artist Point
3. Yachtsman Steakhouse

I think Jiko is by far the best on that list, and if any of them can be dubbed as such, I'd say it is the one that is not to be missed. Artist Point is a great restaurant that at certain times of the year (when the regional Northwestern ingredients that are featured heavily on the menu) can rival the best on property.

Yachstman is a decent enough steakhouse with very good appetizers that is overshadowed by the vastly superior Shula's Steakhouse just a short walk away.
