Please pray my 31 yo sister was just diagnosed with breast cancer UPDATE post 50

I'll add your sister to my prayers! I am finishing up my last week of radiation after being diagnosed in October. I won't say it's been easy, but I have met some amazing women (in person and online) and the abundance of resources in the health care community has been incredible. There are so many services out there, from support groups to nutrition classes to yoga. One book I really liked was "Just Get Me Through This" by Deborah Cohen.

Thank you Everyone. We had a very nice family night at our Mom's house. Even our Dad(parents are divorced) who lives an hour away came over. We are very hopeful and positive. We should know more tomorrow after her Dr appointment.

It means the world to me to have all of you to lean on.

my thoughts and prayers for your family...

Prayers of healing for your sister.
All good thoughts for you and the family and your sister's medical team.

Seek and accept all support that is out there!

Hugs and prayers for your sister and your whole family.

Be strong for her. She'll need all the support you can give.

My little sister is a breast cancer survivor and said it really helped knowing she had people to count on when she was down and needed them. :grouphug:

Hugs and healing vibes!!!!

Tell your sister she is not alone. My mom is a 10 year survivor. It was a tough year but she made it. My moms advice is to find a local support group. It was invaluable for her for support and information about treatments and resources.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

oh Becky, i am so sorry. Big hugs to you guys, especially your sister. Sounds like she has a great support system and she'll definitely need to lean on you a lot.

My cousin (who is like a second mom to us) is a survivor. She was such a trooper and had reconstruction- they removed belly fat to rebuild her breasts. now her tummy is flatter than mine, we still like to tease her about that!!!

Hang in there and know you have lots of prayers coming your way. Hopefully her youth and strong family support will pull her through quickly!!! :guilty:

I am so sorry that your sister has to go throuth this.
Stay strong for her!

Prayers and positive thoughts for your sis, and you and family.

Becky -- Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Breast cancer is very scary, but on the plus side...they've made so many advances in treatment options that the survival rates are very high now compared to even five or ten years ago. Go Pink!!!

I know that it's very hard to process. Both my SIL (2005) and sister (2007) have been through breast cancer. It was just devastating when my SIL was diagnosed. I was in a fog for a few days. When my sister was diagnosed two years later - almost to the day - I was ANGRY!

It's a helpless feeling when this happens. You'll be in my thoughts.

When you find out, please let us know what the anticipated treatment and preliminary staging are. My sister was initially probably only going to have surgery/radiation only, but when the lumpectomy was performed and full pathology and genetic testing was run, they determined she needed to have chemo. So, be prepared that things can change as she goes through this process. It's never a simple ABC for everyone...
