Hi,

I apologize in advance if something like this has been posted before... pirate:

I am taking my family to Disney World for the first time in September 2006. My dilemna is, I have purchased the meal plan and I have heard that it is a good idea to make advanced reservations.

Can you help me out? I would like to post our schedule - can you recommend a good MAIN MEAL location on each one of the dates?

We have purchased some Disney Guides, but it is so much information that we just do not know what to do.

Here it is:

Sunday - Magic Kingdom
Monday - Magic Kingdom
Tuesday - Animal Kingdom
Wednesday - Epcot
Thursday - MGM

Thanks in advance!
Super Excited!

as we usually do is either start the morning with breakfast at Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge or end the day there with reservations at Boma for dinner.
The ride over to the lodge is short and we enjoy the buffet.

OK either Sunday or Monday if I were at the MK,I would take the 2 minute ride the ride monorail over to the California Grill at the Contemporary..I think this is the best restaurant on property. The other day I would take the Monorail to the Polynesian and eat at Ohana or the Kona Cafe
If you want to stay in the MK I recommend the Crystal Palace.
The Animal Kingdom doesn't have very good sit down.. Just the Rainforest cafe.. I would take the 5 minute bus ride to the Animal Kingdom Lodge and go to BOMA
Epcot....So many choices..If you like Steak, LeCellier in Canada is the best .
I also like Restaurant Marakesh in Morocco ,and if you wanted a bit of fun the Biergarten in Epcot...I think that EPCOT has by far the best sit down meals of all the Parks
For your MGM meal,I would take the very short boat ride over to the Boardwalk and eat at Spoodles
Menus from all WDW Restaurants are available at AllEarsNet.com

Sunday or Monday (MK):
Ohana at Polynesian Resort (on the monorail right next to Magic Kingdom)
Crystal Palace (inside Magic Kingdom)

or for great steaks:
Concourse Steakhouse at Contemporary Resort (also on the monorail next to Magic Kingdom)
Kona Cafe at Polynesian Resort

Tuesday (AK):

Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge

Wednesday (Epcot):
Princess Storybook meals at Restaurant Akershus in Norway, World Showcase
or
Le Cellier in Canada, World Showcase

Thursday (MGM):
50's Prime Time Cafe
or
Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano

To be honest, the TS (table service) selections at Magic Kingdom aren't that great. I'd hop to one of the resorts for dinner, like Kona at the Poly and Chef Mickeys or California Grill (depending on your tastes) at the Contemporary.

Animal Kingdom doesn't really have TS restaurants yet, but their CS (counter service) restaurants ROCK! You can get a yummy and very filling meal at Flame Tree. If you want more sit-down I can highly, highly recommend the Boma dinner buffet at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Its a really short bus ride from AK.

Epcot has to be Le Cellier, hands down. My favorite!!

At MGM, Mama Melrose is usually good. If you hop on the boat you have plenty of options over at the Boardwalk or the Yatch and Beach Club restaurants. Its also a quick jaunt to the World Showcase entrance at Epcot if you decide there's another restaurant there you want to try.

Good Luck and have fun planning!!

First off, welcome to the board. You have definately come to the right place. You really need to get the reservations ASAP. I am assuming you have kids because you mentioned "family" so my recommendations are Crystal Palace in MK for either breakfast or dinner. Both are good. It is a character buffet with Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet. Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary is our favorite. You can take the monorail to it. It has Mickey,Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale. Breakfast and dinner and both good. I hear now they are offering lunch for a limited time as well. If you like Lilo and Stitch there is a character breakfast at the Poly in O'hana's. I hear it is good and will be trying it next week. At AK we have only eaten lunch there in Dinoland because it is McDonald's. This upcoming trip for us we are trying Donald's Breakfastauraus. (Can you tell our family like the character buffets-it a great value with the DDP and saves time waiting in lines for pictures) Epcot we have eaten only counter service at Electric Umbrella and then the Princess Breakfast. Another option is the Wilderness Lodge for dinner at Whispering Canyon. They have an all you can skillet that is really good.
At MGM the CS we eaten at is Backlot Express. They also have Pizza Planet that is good. 50's Prime Time Cafe and the Sci Fi are some TS choices that are also worth a try.

Try out www.allearsnet.com because they have menus and prices listed for each restaurant. I think that will be a very useful site for you too use. As you continue to read on the boards you will see that it cannot be stressed enough to get ADR's. I hope it will works out for you and if you have any other questions, let us know. We are all here to help each other out. :goodvibes

Lets see...some of my favorites are...
MK...we do like Crystal Palace. We like the Winnie the Pooh characters and the buffet at breakfast and dinner has always been good.
Epcot...World Showcase is the place to go for good food. LeCellier in Canada is a favorite. Alfredo's in Italy is good.
MGM...we love 50's Prime Time Cafe.
AK...the only sit down meal we have ever done is Donanld's Breakfastasaurus. It's a buffet breakfast.

For the resorts...Contemporary...we love Chef Mickeys.
Polynesian...Kona Cafe is good, we liked 'Ohana for dinner
Grand Floridian...1900 Park Fare is a good character meal with Cinderella
Boardwalk...I have really enjoyed Spoodles.
Beach Club...Cape May is pretty decent. Love the breakfast with the characters.
AKL...we love Boma. It's something a bit different yet not so out there that the non-adventuresome eaters will starve to death.

All of the above suggestions are great. If you are going this September, I would really hurry and make the reservations soon. Because of the free DDP, many of the TS restaurants are completely booked for September. Good luck.
