I have reseved the dates Jan 4-10 at Port Orleans French Quarter for my family and I. I have made a depost of one night to hold the days. In August when the dining plan rates, ticket prices and packages for 2009 come out I will convert to a package.

Will I need to pay for everything up front (room, dining plan, tickets)at that time or can I add an additional deposit and pay the balance on my package at a later date?

If anyone knows the answer of how this works. Please let me know. DH is asking and I am not sure if we have to pay for everything in August when I convert to a package or later.

I have another question too but it is about dining so will post over there.

Thanks a bunch!

Right now you have a "room-only" reservation, and when the rates come out you want to change it to a "package" reservation.

This will require booking a whole new reservation. Your existing deposit (one night's room rate + tax) will be refunded, and you'll need to put down a new deposit ($200).

For package reservations, the payment terms are $200 within 14 days of making the reservation, with the TOTAL BALANCE due no later than 45 days before the trip.

45 days before January 4 will be around Thanksgiving or so. You won't be responsible for paying the total cost of your package until that time.

The ONLY time you ever need to pay the total cost of a package up-front is if you are making the reservation less than 45 days before the trip.

So ...

... what was your Disney Dining Plan question???

Well, first, your room only reservation will be cancelled and you will be re-booked for a package. You will need to pay a $200 deposit and the balance will be do 45 days before your arrival date. If you have a Disney VISA, there is a special incentive for booking packages. I believe it is 6 months at 0% interest, but someone else may know better than I do on that.
